Overview

Are you passionate about uncovering search engine optimization (SEO) insights and leveraging data to drive strategic marketing decisions? We’re building a Frontier Marketing organization that delivers integrated end-to-end planning, execution, optimization, and measurement across our paid and organic demand engines supporting Microsoft’s Customer Solution Areas.

We are currently hiring a Senior Search Engine Optimization Manager, Data Strategy. Our teams operate with agility, blending human creativity and AI-powered insights to drive business outcomes at scale. We prioritize outcomes, embrace continuous learning, and collaborate across disciplines to explore new possibilities in modern marketing.

As a member of the Global Marketing SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Team supporting the Microsoft Commercial Business, you'll help increase organic search and AI search visibility and support performance optimization for our portfolio of commercial products, including Azure, GitHub, Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Security, and more.

To support this work, we are seeking an SEO strategist with strong analytical skills to join our SEO Solutions team. In this role, you will contribute to reporting, presentations, tools, dashboards, operational processes, and white papers for a variety of internal leaders and departments.

You will work with internal partners, colleagues, and leaders to help develop strategies for SEO data initiatives that support business priorities. One day, you may be presenting recommendations for a toolset to measure visibility in AI-driven search, and the next, you might be writing requirements for a new Power BI dashboard that incorporates global search volume data from multiple sources.

Your team will help define the key metrics used to measure performance and establish reporting cadences for leaders. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your knowledge of SEO and AI SEO, also known as Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). You’ll gain experience working with large-scale websites and develop leadership skills by helping others build knowledge and capabilities.

You will also have the opportunity to work with SEO and AI SEO tools and technologies while monitoring and contributing to industry developments and best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Help define the traditional and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Search Engine Optimization (SEO) data strategy, reporting routine, metrics definitions, and data sources for all commercial marketing lines of business and customer solution areas. Propose and help build new reports, dashboards, and visualizations to enhance internal understanding of organic and AI search performance opportunities and drive business impact.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to define and build new data products, combining data from multiple sources to present holistic views of Microsoft’s performance in AI and traditional organic search. You’ll also work to secure buy-in for and promote internal usage of these data products across Marketing teams.
  • Monitor SEO trends, algorithm changes, and emerging AI models, staying ahead of updates to ensure the company’s strategies remain competitive.
  • Manage integrated marketing program execution planning and help develop program recommendations. You'll also identify solutions that address inefficiencies, gather feedback from internal partners, and collaborate with Product Marketing to identify the business objectives that can be supported by a program.
  • Identify opportunities and set direction for the Global Marketing SEO Team’s measurement strategy and development. You’ll act as an internal expert on digital channels and help educate the team on principles and practices, while recommending data and measurement strategies by leveraging deep knowledge of industry dynamics and monitoring the competition.
  • Analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and share insights that advance business impact. You'll also recommend actions to executive leaders based on those results and use performance data to develop insights and improvement recommendations.
  • Lead research projects that dive deep into Microsoft data to identify trends and opportunities, plan intelligently for website updates, and answer internal stakeholder questions about site performance in traditional and AI search.
  • Create professional, executive-facing research artifacts and circulate them within the organization or present them to internal teams, including executive leadership.
  • Mentor earlier-career members of the SEO team in data strategy and analysis. Develop, execute, and report on SEO and AI SEO tests and experiments.
  • Drive medium-complexity projects by developing detailed project management plans, leveraging existing materials and experience to define scope and resources. You'll also develop and execute communication plans to share progress, blockers, and learnings.
  • Embody our culture and values.
