The Company

PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years. Creating innovative experiences that make moving money, selling, and shopping simple, personalized, and secure, PayPal empowers consumers and businesses in approximately 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy.

We operate a global, two-sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We help merchants and consumers connect, transact, and complete payments, whether they are online or in person. PayPal is more than a connection to third-party payment networks. We provide proprietary payment solutions accepted by merchants that enable the completion of payments on our platform on behalf of our customers.

We offer our customers the flexibility to use their accounts to purchase and receive payments for goods and services, as well as the ability to transfer and withdraw funds. We enable consumers to exchange funds more safely with merchants using a variety of funding sources, which may include a bank account, a PayPal or Venmo account balance, PayPal and Venmo branded credit products, a credit card, a debit card, certain cryptocurrencies, or other stored value products such as gift cards, and eligible credit card rewards.  Our PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products also make it safer and simpler for friends and family to transfer funds to each other. We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Our beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day.  We live each day guided by our core values of Inclusion, Innovation, Collaboration, and Wellness. Together, our values ensure that we work together as one global team with our customers at the center of everything we do – and they push us to ensure we take care of ourselves, each other, and our communities.

Job Summary:

About the Role
As a Account Representative for SMB (Small & Medium Businesses), you own the front end of that growth. This is a true hunter role: you generate and qualify your own opportunities along with the leads that come from our marketing engine and our partner platforms, and win-back opportunities, sell the PayPal proposition consultatively, close, and get the merchant live and transacting. You do all of it with AI built into your daily workflow for prospecting, research, prioritization and follow-up, so your time goes to the conversations that move a deal.
It is fast-paced and high-volume. Deciding what to prioritize and what to close first is as much the job as the selling is. Once a merchant is won and onboarded, you hand them to our Account Management team with everything they need to keep growing that business.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Engage and collaborate with the immediate team.
  • Contribute to solutions and suggest efficiencies.
  • Exercise judgment on issues of importance.
  • Acquire, manage, and expand relationships with small and medium-sized merchants.
  • Prioritize work and ensure task completion guided by policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

What You'll Do

  • Build your own pipeline: self-source opportunities with AI-assisted prospecting alongside marketing-generated and partner-referred leads, win-backs, and qualify them fast.
  • Prioritize ruthlessly. Decide where your time creates the most value and move the right deals quickly.
  • Sell consultatively: understand each merchant's business, diagnose what they need, present the PayPal proposition in their terms, and handle objections with confidence.
  • Own the deal end to end and close it, then guide the merchant through going live, resolving their questions and blockers so they start transacting successfully.
  • Maintain pipeline hygiene: accurate stages, next steps and always forecast in the CRM.
  • Hand closed-won merchants to our Account Management team with complete context, so their growth continues without a gap.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with payment service providers (PSPs), commerce platforms (CSPs) and other partners whose merchants we serve.

What You'll Bring (minimum qualifications)

  • Full professional fluency in Spanish and working proficiency in English.
  • A track record of carrying and hitting an individual sales target.

What We're Looking For (core capabilities)

  • Bias for action and ownership. You move without waiting to be asked, and you are and owner.
  • Strong prioritization. You can look at a crowded pipeline and know what to work now, what to park, and why.
  • Commercial and business acumen. You understand how a small business makes money, and you talk about payments in terms of their growth rather than our features.
  • Fast, focused qualification. You ask the right questions early, spot genuine fit, and disqualify without hesitation when there isn't any.
  • Clear, concise communication in writing and in person. You explain value in terms that land with a busy business owner, and you handle objections calmly and confidently.
  • Disciplined about pipeline hygiene, accurate stages, next actions and follow-up cadence, even across a high-volume funnel.
  • Comfortable with AI tools.
  • A strong handoff partner. You work within playbooks, ask for help early, and transfer complete context to Account Management so the merchant never feels the seam.

Nice to Have (preferred qualifications)

  • Experience selling payments, fintech, e-commerce or SaaS to small businesses.
  • Experience selling through or alongside partners such as payment providers, platforms, agencies or resellers.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM.
  • Prior high-velocity or inside-sales experience.

What Success Looks Like in Your First Year

  • Consistent achievement against your new-merchant acquisition target.
  • A pipeline you generate yourself, not one that depends on inbound alone.
  • Merchants who go live, transact, and transition smoothly to Account Management.
  • At least one partner relationship that is measurably stronger because you own it.
