The Manager, Controllership Excellence is a strategic leadership role within the LPG Group Controllership organization responsible for developing and leading the Controllership Excellence capability across North America and EMEA. This role drives governance, internal controls, finance process standardization, continuous improvement, and transformation initiatives that strengthen the global controllership operating model.
Working across Finance, Tax, IT, Corporate Controllership, Group Accounting Operations (GAO), GBS, and Division Controllers, the successful candidate will establish scalable governance frameworks, enhance operational effectiveness, and enable sustainable finance transformation while ensuring compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and Thermo Fisher accounting policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the enterprise controllership governance framework across LPG.
- Drive standardization of internal controls, accounting governance, and compliance practices.
- Identify emerging control risks and oversee remediation of audit findings.
- Own governance for the Approval Authority Matrix (AAM).
- Establish finance system access governance and Segregation of Duties (SoD) standards.
- Improve governance over close, reconciliation, and financial reporting processes.
- Develop enterprise standards for SOPs, KPIs, and finance process controls.
- Lead continuous improvement through Lean, PPI, automation, AI, and digital technologies.
- Support ERP and finance transformation initiatives.
- Partner with GBS, Finance Operations, IT, Tax, and Division Controllers to strengthen governance.
- Establish governance for Chart of Accounts, finance master data, and financial data integrity.
- Influence enterprise-wide adoption of standardized controllership practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA, ACCA, CIA or equivalent preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting, controllership, or finance leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, internal controls, and corporate governance.
- Experience leading finance transformation or large-scale process improvement initiatives.
- Experience working within complex multinational organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting ERP implementations.
- Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, BlackLine, or similar finance technologies.
- Experience with GBS operating models.
- Lean, PPI, or Six Sigma certification is an asset.
- Experience supporting global organizations.
