The Product Architect - MRD Common Platform Transformation (Director) in Dublin manages a small team of highly skilled product architects. The MRD Common Platform Transformation acts as the backbone of data ingestion, distribution, and access of enterprise master and reference data in the area of Legal Entities, Customers, Accounts, Product Agreements, and Market Data (instruments, Prices, Corporate Actions). This role is responsible for executing the sub-function's strategic direction, driving cloud-first AWS and Databricks architectures. The candidate must negotiate at a senior level and earn stakeholder trust through incremental, agile deployments.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Architectural Leadership: Define and execute the 3-5 year product architectural roadmap for the MRD Common Platform, aligning with Citi's enterprise data strategy.

  • Platform Design & Modern Engineering: Lead the Product Development Lifecycle and specification of high-performance, scalable data ingestion, distribution, and access capabilities, leveraging Databricks for utility components and implementing state-of-the-art engineering practices (Active-Active, Blue-Green, Serverless, and AI-assisted development).

  • Team Management & Technical Leadership: Direct, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of senior Product Architects, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and modern engineering standards.

  • Stakeholder Management & Trust: Partner with senior business and technology stakeholders globally to negotiate architectural decisions, align platform capabilities with business priorities, and earn trust through transparent, incremental, and agile deployments.

  • Financial & Program Governance: Provide architectural oversight and governance for multi-year, geographically distributed programs with annual budgets exceeding $20MM, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cloud cost-efficiency (AWS/Databricks consumption).

  • Risk, Compliance & Security: Ensure all architectural designs strictly adhere to Citi's risk management frameworks, information security standards, data governance policies, and global regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Vendor & Technology Partnership: Collaborate with strategic internal/external partner teams (e.g., AWS, Databricks) and internal infrastructure teams to evaluate emerging technologies, drive platform innovation, and optimize the technology stack.

  • Operational Stability & Resilience: Accountable for the architectural integrity, stability, and disaster recovery capabilities of the MRD platform, ensuring zero-downtime operations through robust, resilient design patterns.

Qualifications:

  • Required: AWS Certification to the highest level in Architecture (AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional) and AI/Machine Learning (AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty or AWS Certified AI Specialty).

  • Proven track record of successfully designing and delivering solutions for multi-year programs across geographically spread teams, with budgets in excess of $20MM/annum.

  • 15+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture or software engineering, including 8-10+ years of experience managing highly skilled technical teams.

  • Ability to maintain momentum, manage a small team of highly skilled product architects, and minimize attrition through strong technical leadership.

  • Deep understanding of modern engineering practices, including Active-Active Architectures, Blue-Green Deployments, and Serverless Architectures.

  • Ability to adapt to various situations, rapidly assimilate and report on complex information while creating a future vision.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred and managerial experience.
