Role Summary

The Collections Associate is responsible for obtaining timely payments within prescribed payment terms to maximize cash collection and reduce accounts receivable balances. This role works closely with customers, Sales, Credit, Billing, Cash Application, and other internal teams to resolve outstanding receivables and support collection objectives.

The position requires regular interaction with internal stakeholders and external customers to ensure effective collection activities, issue resolution, and adherence to established service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect outstanding payments from assigned customers according to established collection schedules.

  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly collection targets.

  • Contact customers via phone and email to follow up on outstanding balances and negotiate payment arrangements.

  • Maintain timely communication with customers regarding collection issues, payment discrepancies, and short payments.

  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate disputed receivables to facilitate resolution.

  • Collaborate with Credit, Sales, Billing, and Cash Application teams to resolve outstanding receivable issues.

  • Track and reconcile daily and monthly accounts receivable balances against customer records.

  • Prepare collection-related documentation, including adjustment vouchers, statements, and customer correspondence.

  • Escalate unresolved issues according to established escalation procedures and follow through to resolution.

  • Participate in client meetings to discuss collection performance and address outstanding concerns.

  • Complete responsibilities assigned by the Collections Team Lead.

  • Ensure compliance with client policies, procedures, and service level requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Collections, Credit & Collections, or a related finance function.

  • Advanced or fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience managing customer interactions through phone and email.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.

  • Experience working with Oracle or other ERP systems.

  • Collections Certification or Collections License.

  • Previous experience supporting month-end, quarter-end, or year-end close activities.

  • Experience in a shared services, BPO, or global operations environment.
