As a Construction Project Management Intern, you will help manage daily aspects of site construction such as data center construction, facilities upgrades, Offsite and Substation construction and/or wireless telecommunications systems (towers, poles, equipment shelters). You will help be responsible for all construction priorities including safety (e.g., leading and driving a safety culture), compliance (e.g., MS Policy/SOX, OLC/Anti-Bribery Anti-Corruption), quality, schedule and cost (e.g., financial accountability). This opportunity will allow you to create detailed scope of work documentation and troubleshoot issues to avoid delays or escalations.

This role is located in one of the following locations — Chicago IL, South Bend IN, La Porte IN, Columbus OH, Milwaukee WI. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the office location. This role is for Fully Onsite work.

Responsibilities
  • Contributes to datacenter construction/integration activities on local/campus projects and provides findings and learns to provide recommendations on all datacenters fit-out related activities and ensures sound and data-driven decisions, with guidance from a manager and/or experienced peers.
  • Provides feedback on the engineering documentation/designs, site, and building plans by examining and analyzing technical information.
  • Supports the Internal Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) and other Microsoft key stakeholders and review and share updated process flow information with guidance from a manager and/or project team peers to ensure new processes are being followed that increase cost savings and improve overall cycle-time and efficiencies.
  • Follows guidance from others to complete local by organizing information to help others make timely data-based decisions in partnership with the local project team and stakeholders.
  • Assists with the organization of specific project data supporting cost and key performance indicator (KPI) metrics, invoices, processes, and policies in order to communicate the status to the project team and assist with the reporting on project.
  • Participates in internal teams to maintain the corporate vision and goals for the project with guidance from a manager and/or project team and follow guidelines to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Administration [OSHA], or equivalent) to ensure compliance.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction project management, Architecture, Engineering, or relevant experience (internships to 2 years)
    • OR equivalent experience
  • Must have at least one additional quarter/semester of school remaining following the completion of the internship.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or currently pursuing) in construction project management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 1+ years related experience
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ years’ experience working on data center project.


The base pay range for this internship is USD $4,700.00 - $8,350.00 per month. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $6,330.00 - $9,490.00 per month.
