Amazon's mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Customer360 is Amazon's customer memory, the centralized system that captures, reconciles, and retrieves everything we know about each customer across every Amazon experience. This unified memory powers AI-driven personalization where a preference stated once is understood everywhere, from shopping on Amazon.com, to watching Prime Video, to talking with Alexa.

As a builder on Customer360, you'll work at the intersection of large-scale data systems and AI. You'll lead software development for infrastructure that ingests customer signals across Amazon, powers contextual retrieval for AI experiences, and enables privacy-by-default data sharing at scale.

We're looking for an SDE III who leads their team's software development across the full lifecycle: working backwards from the customer, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance. You'll own your team's architectural direction, work on problems where the customer case is defined but the technology strategy is not, and deliver systems serving hundreds of millions of customers across real-time data pipelines, retrieval systems, privacy infrastructure, and AI integrations.

You'll drive engineering best practices, coach and mentor multiple engineers, and ensure the quality and coherence of your team's software. You'll balance short-term delivery against long-term architecture, identify one-way-door technical decisions, and advocate for the right solutions. You'll ensure your team has strong operational practices with correct alarms, telemetry, runbooks, and retrospective processes.

You'll partner with principal engineers, applied scientists, and product leaders to translate customer and business needs into robust, scalable systems. You'll lead inclusive, constructive dialogue when disagreements arise and build consensus on the best path forward. We expect you to proactively identify gaps, resolve root causes of endemic problems, and drive solutions to completion, including influencing decisions in systems you depend on.

Your work will have high visibility across the organization. Your team will be stronger because of your presence but will not depend on your presence to be successful. You'll contribute to our technical roadmap and help shape how Amazon understands its customers.

If you want to lead systems at Amazon scale and have the technical depth and ownership mindset to drive them forward, Customer360 is the place.
