Build innovative solutions at petabyte scale that empower global advertisers to understand and act on their campaign performance — processing billions of ad impressions, clicks, and conversion events daily using event-driven architectures on AWS. Your work powers the reporting and insights advertisers rely on every day to grow their business on Amazon.

We deliver campaign reporting for all of Amazon Advertising, producing analytics and insights that drive advertiser decision-making worldwide. Our team within Sponsored Products & Brands (SPB) manages large-scale data systems that ingest, process, and deliver performance data across billions of daily transactions. You'll build and optimize data pipelines and services using the latest AWS technologies, collaborate with scientists and product managers, and drive innovation in a fast-growing, collaborative environment with a broad mandate to experiment.

Key job responsibilities
• Design and build scalable systems that process over 50 billion events daily across petabyte-scale clusters for causal advertising measurement
• Develop and optimize causal measurement and modeling techniques — including rigorous scientific experiments and machine learning — to measure advertising effectiveness
• Architect and evolve event-driven architectures using AWS big data and ML technologies to stay ahead of rapidly growing scale
• Combine deterministic and modeled measurement approaches to deliver estimates that are fast, precise, and actionable for advertisers
• Drive technical strategy and lead architecture decisions that shape the future of causal measurement across all Amazon ad products
• Collaborate with world-class scientists and engineers to translate complex measurement challenges into scalable, production-grade solutions
• Set the engineering standard for operational excellence, system reliability, and quality at petabyte scale

About the team
This team builds the core causal measurement and modeling capabilities serving all of Amazon Ads. We work with diverse systems and languages, combining AWS services like EMR and DynamoDB with Spark and Scala. We also leverage generative AI tools to accelerate our development, testing, and deployment cycles.

Basic Qualifications

- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
