Title and Summary
Senior Site Reliability EngineerOverview:The Cyber and Intelligence Solutions (C&I) team is responsible for product management and innovative product development of products and services to address the evolving risk & cyber security needs of all of MasterCard’s various customer segments. The C&I team was established with the responsibility to safeguard all aspects of safety and security in payments and have made great strides with new products, services and standards, positively impacting all aspects of our current and future payment eco-system.
Ekata, a Mastercard company, is the global standard in identity verification, providing businesses worldwide the ability to link any digital transaction to the human behind it. Our Ekata Identity Engine, the first and only of its kind, uses complex machine learning to combine features derived from the billions of transactions within our proprietary network and the data from our graph to deliver industry leading risk assessment solutions.
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team. In this role, you will design, build, automate, and support secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud platforms that power mission-critical applications.
This is a Terraform-first engineering role where Infrastructure as Code is the standard for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure. You will build reusable infrastructure modules, automate deployments, and support modern cloud-native platforms using Amazon EKS and AWS services.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and support secure, highly available AWS cloud infrastructure for production and development environments.
• Design, develop, and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform as the primary provisioning tool.
• Build reusable Terraform modules and enforce Infrastructure as Code best practices across cloud platforms.
• Build, operate, and optimize Amazon EKS Kubernetes platforms supporting containerized applications.
• Build and maintain hardened Amazon Linux and Ubuntu machine images using HashiCorp Packer.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployments, and operational tasks using GitHub Actions, Argo CD, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement AWS security best practices, including IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
• Monitor platform health, availability, and performance using CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Troubleshoot complex AWS, Kubernetes, Linux, networking, and infrastructure issues while participating in an on-call rotation.
• Develop automation and tooling using Python, Go, or Bash to improve operational efficiency.
• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Amazon Q Developer to accelerate infrastructure development and automation.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Security, and Platform teams to deliver secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, Terraform standards, and operational runbooks.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and deploying AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
• Demonstrated experience developing reusable Terraform modules and managing Infrastructure as Code in enterprise environments.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Strong experience building and operating Amazon EKS or Kubernetes platforms.
• Strong experience administering Amazon Linux and Ubuntu Linux.
• Experience building machine images using HashiCorp Packer.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD platforms.
• Strong understanding of AWS networking, IAM, VPCs, load balancing, Route 53, storage, and security best practices.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Programming or scripting experience using Python, Go, or Bash.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Work Schedule & On-Call Requirements
• Standard working hours are ~10 AM – ~6/7 PM UTC, Monday through Friday.
• Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation approximately every 1.5 months once the team is fully staffed.
• During the initial staffing period, team members should expect to participate in the on-call rotation approximately every 3-4 weeks until the team reaches full capacity.
• Ability to respond to and troubleshoot production infrastructure and networking issues during assigned on-call periods.
