Use Your Power for Purpose
As a Senior Associate Scientist Chemistry at Pfizer, you will perform routine sample testing, assay verification, and qualification studies in support of early vaccine development. Assays include standard analytical separations (HPLC, gel electrophoresis, etc.) and spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis, fluorescence).
This is a laboratory-based position within the Vaccine Research and Development Analytical Development Group.
What You Will Achieve
In this role, you will:
- Under direct supervision perform routine sample testing in support of vaccine development. This includes preparing samples, setting up and running the instruments, and analyzing data.
- Document experiments, analyze data, and provide reporting using an electronic laboratory notebook in accordance with Pfizer/GCLP requirements.
- With guidance will execute assay routine analysis of vaccine candidates.
- With guidance, draft and revise laboratory methods and reports.
- Plan daily workflow to complete the tasks/experiments outlined by the supervisor.
- Contribute and participate in general laboratory maintenance activities (such as buffer preparation, reagent formulations, maintenance of equipment, managing laboratory waste).
Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
- BS or MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline plus 2 or more years of related work experience in analytical characterization of biomolecules.
- Technical proficiencies in liquid chromatography (HPLC/UPLC), Capillary electrophoresis and spectroscopy (UV/VIS, Fluorescence)
- Previous experience with characterization of biomolecules (proteins, polysaccharides, lipid nanoparticles).
- Familiarity with data analysis software such as ChemStation, OpenLab, or Empower.
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
- Motivated, detail-oriented, with good laboratory skills.
Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using common AI tools, including generative technologies such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, to support problem solving and enhance productivity. Understanding of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.
- Experience with LC-MS characterization of proteins.
Work Location Assignment: On Premise
