The Director of Hematology Ambition & Disease Strategy will be a part of the US Hematology Key Customer Marketing Team reporting to the Head of Key Customer Engagement.  The role is accountable for driving the AstraZeneca Hematology Ambition and supporting the strategic development and tactical execution of projects that showcase our scientific leadership, innovative partnerships, and patient focus.  The Director will work to further AstraZeneca’s reputation as a commercial leader in the treatment of hematologic malignancies and a committed partner in the blood cancer therapeutic area. 

The Director will work in close partnership with cross-functional teams including brand and regional marketing, medical affairs, regulatory, corporate affairs, patient advocacy, field sales, global franchise, research & development and other functions to support the development and execution of optimal disease education and innovative customer solution strategies.

This position is based in Gaithersburg or Remote within US

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the pull-through of the overall AstraZeneca Hematology Ambition strategy, disease education and execution plans in support of AstraZeneca’s leadership in blood cancer care and corporate ambition to be a partner of choice
  • Drive collaboration with cross functional teams (including commercial, medical, research & development, corporate affairs, and advocacy) to strategically identify and prioritize market challenges/barriers and implement new solutions
  • Identify and develop innovative ideas to address gaps in hematologic malignancy care, including managing concept development, governance and review processes, budget, and deployment
  • Lead oversight and management of HCP-targeted Hematology Ambition website, including launching new assets and programs aligned to future customer and organization needs
  • Develop strategic assets and tactics that help AstraZeneca retain positive reputation as a leader in Hematologic Malignancies with demonstrated commitment to HCPs and patients
  • Participate in the strategic planning process to identify areas of opportunity to implement hematology ambition priorities and drive unbranded educational needs
  • Responsible for leading and executing initiatives aimed at highlighting AstraZeneca’s Scientific Advancement and focus in the Hematology therapy area
  • Manage the US Hematology Ambition presence on internal social media channels to demonstrate increased focus and commitment to blood cancer care
  • Lead the strategy of external awareness campaigns, including LinkedIn Social Channels, Meta and Paid Search strategy to drive engagement with key external partners
  • Create and implement a robust media strategy and NPP programming plan to drive engagement with HCPs regarding external awareness on the future of AstraZeneca Hematology
  • Lead and manage customer facing events at key congress opportunities that showcase AstraZeneca Hematology commitment and leadership in blood cancer care
  • Serve as Hematology Ambition liaison between internal AstraZeneca business units
  • Implement effective measurement strategy to analyze and share impact of key initiatives and tactics aligned to the hematology ambition and disease strategy plans
  • Manage partner agencies, vendor relationships, workflow, and related expense budgets
  • Possess strong communication and presentation skills to lead discussions on Hematology Ambition programming and initiatives, including building and presenting regular updates to senior leaders.

Competencies

  • Strategic agility: ability to develop and execute strategic marketing plans; implements strategic vision into tactical actions, identifies high impact concepts and prioritizes efforts by resource allocation
  • Oncology Business Acumen: comprehensive understanding of the delivery of oncology care, including the role of Payers, GPOs, APPs, different practice settings, and organized oncology customers.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: establishes credibility as an internal thought leader; ability to partner well with marketing, medical, sales, global, and other functions
  • Technical expertise: experience with marketing operations including strategic oversight and execution of advisory boards, alliances, concept development, and the MLR process; strong comprehension of the legal and regulatory landscape in pharmaceutical promotions, and pharma industry compliance guidelines
  • Communication: strong interpersonal skills; able to engage with leadership at all levels of the organization; able to synthesize and concisely communicate team deliverables and accomplishments
     

Requiered Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA and/or other advanced credentials a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in US pharma and/or healthcare industry with experience in one or more of the following: marketing, sales, strategic planning, operations, project management, medical affairs
  • 5+ years of experience in Oncology therapeutic area
  • 3+ years of in-line HCP or Patient Marketing, Corporate Strategy, or Brand Leadership
  • Strong project management, leadership, business acumen, and ability to manage multiple priorities, processes, timelines and expectations of multiple stakeholder groups
  • Experience with agency management, med-legal review process, and budget management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to strategically develop programs and gauge their feasibility, impact, and risks
  • Comfort operating in a highly regulated environment
  • Willing to travel as appropriate/needed

The annual base pay for this position ranges from 193,898.40 - 290,847.60 USD Annual. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles. Benefits offered include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (i.e., vacation, holiday, and leaves), as well as health, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
