ROLE SUMMARY

The Director, Medical Insights Platform Lead owns the technical architecture and build execution for the Insights platform (InsightXplorer) on behalf of the full Medical Insights team globally. Accountable for how the platform is built and evolves technically — architecture decisions, build sequencing, and translating regional and business needs into a working, scalable product. Also drives innovation and experimentation for the platform, evaluating new data sources, methods, and AI approaches and determining which are worth building into the roadmap. This role suits a builder who wants to shape the platform's technical direction end-to-end, working at the intersection of engineering, product development, and global stakeholder demand.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Platform Architecture & Build

  • Own the technical architecture and build execution of InsightXplorer (IX), ensuring the platform scales reliably as usage and data sources grow.
  • Sequence build work across the platform roadmap, balancing technical dependencies with regional and business priorities surfaced by the Engagement Leads.
  • Translate regional and business needs into concrete technical requirements and a coherent, working product.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners (Digital & Technology, Data Governance, platform hosting teams) to resolve technical and infrastructure obstacles.

Innovation & Experimentation

  • Drive evaluation of new data sources, methods, and AI approaches for the platform, assessing technical feasibility and fit.
  • Determine which innovations are ready to move from experimentation into the build roadmap, in partnership with the Senior Manager, Data Analyst.
  • Stay current on emerging analytics and AI capabilities relevant to Medical Insights, bringing forward recommendations for the platform's technical direction.

Insights Translation & Value

  • Translate platform capabilities into terms that Engagement Leads and regional stakeholders can use to communicate value to their audiences.
  • Partner with the Engagement Leads and Senior Manager, Data Analyst to ensure new platform features and technical decisions reflect real regional and business needs.
  • Support change management and enablement activities related to new platform capabilities as they're built and released.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of external stakeholders to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related technical field, with 8+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or technology industry.
  • Demonstrated experience building, architecting, or leading development of data or analytics platforms, with a strong understanding of how technical platform decisions translate into business and scientific value.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating and piloting new data sources, methods, or AI/analytics approaches, and determining their readiness for production use.
  • Experience leading technical build or platform work through influence, without formal authority over all contributing teams (e.g., Digital & Technology, hosting/infrastructure).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical, senior stakeholder audiences.
  • Ability to partner effectively across cultures, regions, and organizational boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (e.g., PhD, MS) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Prior experience architecting or building a self-service analytics or data platform from the ground up.
  • Hands-on proficiency with analytics, data visualization, or AI/ML tooling (e.g., Tableau, Dataiku, Python-based ML frameworks) sufficient to build and evaluate solutions directly, not just engage with them.

Professional Capabilities

  • Builds trusted, credibility-based relationships with diverse stakeholders across Medical, Digital, Technology, and other functions.
  • Leads through technical expertise and influence, effectively shaping platform direction and technical trade-offs in cross-functional and matrixed settings.
