Who we are looking for

A senior research leader to head the Investment Solutions Group (ISG) multi-asset research team in Bangalore, with personal research focus on Tactical Asset Allocation. The role combines people leadership, deep hands-on quantitative research credibility, and focus on local research excellence within a globally integrated innovation model.

The successful candidate will also drive the integration of AI tools and AI-strategist capabilities into the ISG multi-asset research process and serve as one of the local research anchors for SSIM's emerging India research partnerships.

In both managerial and research capacity, this role reports to Head of Investment Research for ISG and Fixed Income, who is currently based in Boston.

Why this role matters

State Street Investment Management is the asset management business of State Street Corporation — one of the world's leading providers of financial services to institutional investors, with over $5.5 trillion in assets under management and a heritage dating back over two centuries. Backed by the strength and stability of State Street, SSIM makes continual investments in its asset management and client servicing platforms, resulting in a client-focused, solutions-driven orientation.

SSIM's Investment Solutions Group (ISG) is a team of 100+ investment professionals running in excess of $500B in multi-asset class portfolios for some of the world's largest, most sophisticated investors. The Bangalore research team is a critically important part of this effort.

What you will be responsible for

  • Contribute to and oversee local execution of the global multi-asset research agenda, partnering with the global senior research leadership and PM/CPM teams across the US, EMEA, and APAC.

  • Mentor and develop AVP- and Officer-level researchers, sustaining a strong talent pipeline.

  • Lead the integration of AI-enabled tools and workflows within the Bangalore-based research process to enhance productivity, insight generation, and speed of implementation.

  • Support the full lifecycle of model development and operation in Bangalore, including engagement with Model Risk Management (MRM) and other governance bodies within SSIM.

  • Execution of a personal research agenda that focuses on Tactical Asset Allocation — developing short to medium-term, alpha-generating multi-asset class models.

  • As needed, represent the team in client and prospect meetings, consultant engagements, and industry conferences.

  • As needed, contribute to the SSIM's emerging India research partnerships — representing the firm in joint research forums and co-developed workstreams.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD/MS/MBA) in finance, econometrics, science/engineering, or another highly quantitative subject from a premier institute.

  • 7+ years of investment / quantitative research experience with focus on multi-asset strategic and tactical asset allocation and portfolio construction. Strong grounding in statistics and machine learning (including NLP/LLM applications) is required.

  • A track record of successfully leading research teams.

  • Proven history of delivery on research priorities in complex institutional environments with multiple stakeholders and multi-dimensional objectives.

  • Strong quantitative development skills — proficiency in R / Python and intermediate-level SQL; experience with building production-grade research infrastructure. Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and modern data platforms (Databricks, cloud) is a strong plus.

  • Familiarity with front-office tools such as FactSet, Bloomberg, and similar providers.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, with proven ability to influence global stakeholders and clients.
