Job Description

We are seeking a Sales Engineer with both strong pre-sales expertise and practical implementation experience who can bridge client needs, solution design, and successful delivery for Visa’s Value-Added Services (VAS) across Southern Europe. The position will lead client demonstrations, technical discovery meetings, architecture workshops, analytical discussions, solution validation, and proposal support, while remaining actively involved after contract signature to protect continuity between what is promised during pre-sales and what is delivered during implementation.

Visa’s VAS portfolio enables clients to go beyond traditional payments through digital issuing, real-time risk and fraud controls, aml & compliance, authentication, tokenization, loyalty, data insights, and cloud-based processing. The Sales Engineer will act as the trusted technical advisor throughout the opportunity lifecycle and as a technical program partner during delivery. The role will work closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, Client Services, implementation teams, partners, and client stakeholders to ensure scope, assumptions, dependencies, resources, acceptance criteria, and delivery commitments remain aligned.

Key responsibilities:

This role combines three connected accountabilities: pre-sales technical leadership, implementation readiness, and post-sales delivery alignment. The Sales Engineer will act as a program manager for strategic projects and will be jointly accountable with the Implementation Lead for technical delivery alignment, without replacing the Implementation Lead’s ownership of day-to-day execution, project controls, budget, and formal delivery governance.

  • Support the regional VAS technical sales strategy across Southern Europe, guiding discovery, solution design, and evaluation cycles with major issuers and fintech's.
  • Own strategic technical engagements end‑to‑end, influencing  client decision‑making and ensuring solution designs are implementation‑ready and aligned with Visa’s delivery capabilities.
  • Act as a technical advisor, shaping client strategy and steering complex solution decisions that drive innovation beyond traditional payments.
  • Architect robust, multi‑solution VAS designs across fraud & identity, authentication/tokenization, digital issuing, loyalty, data/analytics, and cloud‑native platforms.
  • Translate diverse client needs into compelling architectures that are scalable, secure, and feasible within real-world, regulated environments.
  • Influence and orchestrate cross‑functional teams (Sales, Product, Engineering, Delivery) to align roadmaps, resolve obstacles, and accelerate client value.
  • Act as a technical voice in high‑stakes, strategic deals, building executive‑level confidence through clarity, authority, and expertise.
  • Drive technical enablement for the region by developing and maintaining clear frameworks, materials, and best‑practice architectures.
  •  Identify emerging client needs and market opportunities, shaping Visa’s VAS strategy and helping institutions modernize their platforms at scale.
  • Capture implementation feedback and lessons learned and use them to improve future demonstrations, discovery questions, solution designs, estimates, delivery assumptions, enablement materials, and product roadmap input.
  • Provide technical oversight and coaching to implementation resources, ensure access to relevant product expertise, and help resolve design or analytical issues that could affect delivery quality, client confidence, or time to value.
  • Support implementation resource planning by defining the required technical skills, roles, seniority, capacity, and timing for each project, and participate in the selection, interviewing, onboarding, or hiring of technical resources and implementation partners where required.
  • Be jointly accountable with the Implementation Lead for confirming that the delivered solution remains aligned with the approved technical scope and documented pre-sales commitments and initiate formal revalidation or change control when requirements change.
  • Act as a technical program manager where required, coordinating workstreams across Sales, Product, Engineering, Client Services, implementation teams, partners, and client stakeholders, and escalating scope, resource, dependency, or delivery issues early.
  •  Lead the structured handover from pre-sales to implementation, including knowledge-transfer sessions, solution documentation, open decisions, delivery risks, architecture, data requirements, model and analytical requirements, and outstanding client dependencies.
  • Engage implementation and delivery stakeholders early in strategic or complex opportunities so that proposed timelines, capabilities, integrations, environments, and resource assumptions are reviewed before commitments are made to the client.
  • Lead pre-sales demonstrations, technical meetings, analytical workshops, solution design sessions, and deep dives covering architecture, integration, data, analytics, models, rules, workflows, security, scalability, and operational requirements.

  • Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a technical sales support or sales engineering role, with a strong track record of positioning solutions to financial institution clients in Turkey, ideally within banking.
  • Deep knowledge of the financial services sector, including the commercial, technical, and regulatory considerations that shape client decision-making.
  • Fluency in both Turkish and English, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Previous experience working across issuing and risk solutions, with an understanding of how these capabilities support client growth, resilience, and innovation would be beneficial
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple internal stakeholders effectively, aligning technical expertise with commercial priorities and client outcomes.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative culture across cross-functional teams, building effective partnerships with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Delivery stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders and build trust through clarity, credibility, and expertise.
  • Ability to challenge unrealistic commitments constructively, reconcile differences between sales and delivery expectations, and drive formal change control when scope or delivery assumptions change.
  • Experience estimating technical implementation needs and identifying, interviewing, onboarding, or managing technical specialists, implementation consultants, data engineers, solution architects, or delivery partners.
  • Demonstrated program or project leadership experience coordinating complex cross-functional delivery and managing scope, milestones, resources, dependencies, risks, decisions, and executive escalations.
  • Proven post-sales implementation experience with enterprise technology projects, ideally covering architecture, data integration, model or analytics deployment, testing, go-live, hypercare, and transition to support.
