Job Description
The Sec & Derivatives Sup is an intermediate management level position responsible for providing full leadership and direction to a team of employees in an effort to process orders and transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices in coordination with the Operations - Transaction Services team. The overall objective of this role is to facilitate the clearance, settlement, and investigation of securities and derivatives transactions.
The role is responsible for managing the end-to-end margin and collateral settlement lifecycle for OTC derivatives and Fixed Income products. The individual will work closely with Front Office, Product Control, Risk, Legal, Treasury, Technology, counterparties, custodians and market infrastructures to ensure timely and accurate processing of margin calls, collateral movements, reconciliations, settlements and regulatory reporting.
The role requires strong knowledge of OTC derivatives, collateral management, margin processes and settlement controls, with a focus on operational risk management, process efficiency and regulatory compliance
Key Responsibilities
Margin & Collateral Settlement
- Manage end-to-end processing and settlement of Initial Margin (IM), Variation Margin (VM) and other collateral movements.
- Process cash and securities collateral movements within agreed settlement timelines.
- Manage margin calls, collateral substitutions, returns, recalls and releases.
- Support collateral movements involving Indian Government Bonds (IGBs), cash and other eligible collateral.
- Coordinate with counterparties, custodians and internal settlement teams to resolve failed or delayed settlements.
- Monitor settlement status and ensure timely resolution of exceptions.
OTC Derivatives Margin Operations
- Support margin processing for OTC derivatives including FX derivatives, Interest Rate Derivatives, FX Options and other applicable products.
- Understand and validate margin requirements arising from CSA terms and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Review margin call calculations and investigate disputes with counterparties.
- Ensure accurate booking, amendment and settlement of margin-related transactions.
- Understand the impact of trade amendments, terminations and lifecycle events on margin requirements.
Reconciliations & Controls
- Perform daily reconciliation of margin calls, collateral balances, settlements and internal records against counterparty/custodian records.
- Investigate and resolve breaks within defined timelines.
- Maintain strong controls around cash and securities movements.
- Identify operational risks, recurring breaks and control gaps and drive remediation.
- Ensure appropriate maker-checker controls and audit trails are maintained.
- Support internal and regulatory audits and provide required documentation/evidence.
Process Improvement & Transformation
- Identify opportunities to automate and simplify margin and settlement processes.
- Participate in technology implementations, system migrations and regulatory projects.
- Support API/system integration initiatives and improve straight-through processing.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, operating procedures and control frameworks.
- Drive reduction of manual processes, operational breaks and settlement risks.
Qualifications:
- Good understanding of OTC derivatives and their settlement lifecycle.
- Experience in Markets Operations / Derivatives Operations / Collateral or Margin Operations.
- Proven ability to perform various concurrent activities/projects in a high-risk environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- 3-4 years of relevant experience
- Required FEDAI Certification.
