Senior Associate, Benefits

We are seeking a Senior Associate, Benefits to serve as a strategic partner in our Benefits and HR Services team. This role is focused on optimizing the delivery of benefits and HR services through advanced process management, data-driven insights, and process innovation to shape and future-proof our US-based products and experiences.

This role is focused on partnering with Benefits & HR Services team members and Global Core HR Platforms to ensure that the platforms and applications utilized by the Benefits & HR Services teams possess the necessary capabilities to:

  • Advance business strategy.

  • Deliver exceptional, error free experiences.

  • Generate the data and reporting essential to provide meaningful insights.

The key responsibilities of this role center on driving system and process improvements by leveraging data analytics, AI, and strategic problem-solving to redesign business workflows and enhance operational scalability.

  • Lead operational process management and continuous improvement initiatives to simplify and streamline workflows across the Benefits & HR Services team.

  • Support team reporting needs by extracting and analyzing data from Workday (WD), translating findings into actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making.

  • Proactively identify and troubleshoot operational issues and systemic vulnerabilities, driving long-term solutions to stabilize the ecosystem.

  • Partner with Product and Business teams to support enhancements, including requirements gathering, ROI assessment, and facilitating User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Empower the team to leverage AI tools and local automation to increase efficiency in daily tasks and innovative problem-solving.

  • Manage work and initiatives in Jira, ensuring deliverables are well-managed, documented, and meet stakeholder expectations.

  • Partner with stakeholders to maintain a healthy backlog of continuous improvement items and participate in team ceremonies to drive on-time delivery.

  • Collaborate on end-to-end testing strategies and post-launch monitoring to confirm ROI and successful system integrations.

  • Support cross-functional initiatives and provide back-up for teammates across all Benefits & HR Services functional areas as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in Human Resources, Benefits or Payroll administration; or, equivalent combination of related work experience and education

  • At least 1 year of experience participating in technology projects, with demonstrated project management experience, overseeing initiatives from concept to completion, including effective stakeholder engagement.

  • 2+ years of experience in Systems Analysis, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or Benefits

  • At least 1 year of experience participating in testing strategy, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and overseeing User Acceptance Testing (UAT), in partnership with the client group

  • At least 2 years of experience in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Suite such as Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Workday and Salesforce.

  • Experience using AI and/or technology to generate creative ideas, solve problems, troubleshoot common business problems, and translate them into tangible more efficient work products.

  • 1+ years of experience with Workday configuration or Workday integrations

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business Analysis, Business Administration, or Human Resources

  • 1+ years of experience with Google Apps Script or Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)

  • Strong analytical acumen with a proven ability to translate complex data sets into actionable business insights. Demonstrated track record of identifying process bottlenecks and designing efficient, scalable solutions.

  • A process-improvement mindset, with a clear preference for candidates who use an analytical approach to solve problems vs. executing static operational tasks.

  • 1+ years of experience with Kainos

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Assoc., Benefits

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
