State Street Investment Management (State Street IM) is seeking an experienced and hands-on technology leader in Client Experience team to partner directly with business stakeholders across the organization.  The role will focus on understanding business needs, translating requirements into practical technology solutions and architecture, and guiding delivery through close collaboration with business analysts, enterprise architects, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data engineering, and application development teams. The successful candidate will combine strong business engagement, solution architecture, and technical leadership to deliver scalable, secure, resilient, and compliant solutions aligned with enterprise standards.

What You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Directly engaging with Client Coverage Group (CCG) and Chief Business Office (CBO), and other business stakeholders to understand business objectives, operating challenges, priorities, and functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into technology solution options, target-state architecture, integration approaches, and actionable delivery plans.
  • Provide solution architecture and technical leadership from concept through implementation, ensuring clear traceability between business needs and the delivered solution.
  • Partner with business analysts to refine requirements, identify dependencies, clarify assumptions, and support effective prioritization and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data engineering, and development teams to design scalable, secure, resilient, and supportable solutions.
  • Evaluate solution alternatives and provide recommendations based on business value, technical feasibility, security, cost, scalability, operational impact, and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Produce and review solution architecture artifacts, including system context, component, integration, data flow, deployment, security, and operational design documentation.
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, approved technology platforms, security controls, data governance requirements, API standards, and integration patterns.
  • Guide development teams through solution design and implementation, resolve technical ambiguity, and support key engineering decisions without assuming primary project management accountability.
  • Identify technology risks, architectural gaps, non-functional requirements, and cross-platform dependencies early, and coordinate appropriate mitigation with accountable teams.
  • Support application security, vulnerability remediation, technology risk, resiliency, and production readiness activities as part of the solution lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with third-party technology vendors and SaaS/platform providers to assess capabilities, integration requirements, service expectations, and alignment with enterprise governance processes.
  • Contribute to business and technology roadmaps by identifying reusable capabilities, modernization opportunities, process improvements, and strategic technology enablers.
  • Support production stability and critical issue resolution by providing architecture context, technical analysis, and escalation leadership when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise application architecture, solution architecture, software engineering, or technology leadership roles.
  • Proven experience working directly with senior business stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technology solutions and architecture.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear business terms.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise application architectures, shared services, distributed systems, and cloud-native architecture principles.
  • Hands-on knowledge of AWS cloud services and the ability to assess cloud-based solution options.
  • Proficiency in Java and Python application development.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), solution delivery practices, and enterprise software engineering standards.
  • Experience with application security, vulnerability remediation, cybersecurity controls, technology risk, resiliency, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational database technologies.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, messaging technologies, and data exchange frameworks.
  • Ability to develop and assess architecture artifacts covering applications, integrations, data, infrastructure, security, deployment, and operational support.
  • Knowledge of AI technologies, generative AI capabilities, and the practical application of AI within enterprise environments.
  • Strong leadership, analytical thinking, decision-making, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in financial services or another highly regulated environment is preferred.
