About the role
Original posting provided by amazon
You will work with three-phase electrical systems including switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies, power distribution units, and battery systems, along with mechanical systems such as chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, and pumps. You will identify equipment deficiencies, complete risk assessments, and improve processes that keep the facility running well. This is a ground-floor opportunity to grow with a site that has years of expansion ahead.
Key job responsibilities
- Operate and maintain electrical and mechanical infrastructure including generators, switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies, chillers, cooling towers, and air handling units while following safety protocols
- Troubleshoot moderate to high-complexity equipment issues using technical documentation, prints, and drawings, and escalate abnormal conditions to site leadership as needed
- Review operational dashboards to assess site conditions, plan preventive and corrective maintenance, and carry out change management procedures
- Coordinate with vendors on-site to ensure contractor work meets established procedures, safety standards, and site requirements
- Train and mentor less-experienced team members on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting
A day in the life
You will start your shift by checking dashboards and outstanding work orders to figure out what needs attention first. From there, you might walk the building to inspect equipment, respond to alarms from the Building Management System, or run scheduled maintenance on generators or cooling systems. You will work with your Facility Manager on any emerging issues and bring in vendors when specialized help is needed. You will also log what you find and update maintenance records so the rest of the team stays informed.
About the team
Our team supports a new machine learning cluster at Amazon, providing the power and cooling that keep thousands of accelerator hosts online around the clock. We are hands-on engineers and technicians who work across electrical, mechanical, and controls disciplines to fix problems and improve how we operate. You will work closely with your peers and site leadership to maintain the systems that enable uninterrupted model training and inference workloads.
Because this cluster is new, you will help build operational processes from the start and grow with the facility over the coming years. There is room to deepen your technical skills, take on process improvement work, and move into more senior roles in critical facility engineering.
