About the Team
Citi Markets Operations and Operations Technology is a dynamic, global organization with a presence in over 60 countries, supporting all front-to-post execution Operations teams, including product-aligned Middle Office groups, Settlements, Margin, Asset Servicing, and Listed Derivative & Commodities Operations.
Our teams support an extensive range of Capital Markets products and services, including:
- Fixed Income (FX, Rates, Credit, Muni, Cash, and Derivatives) — where Citi is consistently a top 3 player in the market
- Equity (Cash, Derivatives, Prime Brokerage, Futures, Listed Derivatives, FXPB) — an area of significant growth investment
- Syndicates — supporting both Fixed Income and Equity new issues and IPOs
Operations plays a critical role across the full trade lifecycle, partnering with Front Office Sales and Trading Desks, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and HR, while maintaining significant direct interaction with our global client base. Our Digitization and Implementation group works alongside Operations to deliver automation solutions, partnering with Citi's innovation labs to drive optimization and support our transformation to a target operating model, leveraging AI, natural language processing, and machine learning capabilities.
Role Summary
The Securities & Derivatives Intermediate Analyst is an intermediate-level position responsible for processing orders and transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices, in coordination with the Operations – Transaction Services team. The role's core objective is to facilitate the clearance, settlement, and investigation of client securities and derivatives transactions — specifically supporting day-to-day Yen Equity settlements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day Yen Equity settlement support, including:
- Processing securities settlement
- Making payments
- Performing reconciliations
- Inputting general ledger entries
- Performing (complex) calculations
- Interact with counterparties regarding settlement activities
- Support an expansive and/or diverse array of products, services, risk, and control functions
- Follow established procedures to identify and resolve problems requiring investigation or research
- Make recommendations to management to support process improvement
- Resolve problems by applying acquired technical experience, guided by precedent
- Make evaluative judgments based on factual analysis and assist in implementing process improvements
- Minimize risk to the firm through strong knowledge of procedural requirements; monitor errors and propose solutions to reduce them while adhering to audit and control policies
- Manage and escalate settlement-related inquiries and issues in a timely manner
- Interact directly with external customers to disseminate or explain information
- Demonstrate an intermediate-level understanding of products/processes and how the role integrates with the team and closely related teams
- Use strong communication, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills to engage colleagues and stakeholders, exchanging potentially complex or sensitive information with sensitivity to audience diversity
- Exhibit strong executional capability
- Appropriately assess risk in all business decisions, with particular consideration for the firm's reputation, safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and its assets — driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating/managing/reporting control issues with transparency
