AI & Data Platforms (AiDP) is IS&T's engine for AI-powered innovation. The team brings together data, application development, and machine learning — including generative AI — along with data services and customer success functions, to help IS&T build solutions more efficiently and streamline the adoption and embedding of generative AI across Apple.
Description
As an Engineering Manager on the Applied Machine Learning team, you will lead a team of software engineers building tools and platforms at scale that power Apple's enterprise GenAI efforts. You'll be responsible for the technical execution and delivery of a GenAI platform with distributed compute, storage, ingestion, and inference. You'll be working with a team of software engineers and machine learning engineers to build RAG and Agentic platform components. If you have a deep understanding of distributed systems, generative AI, a strong engineering background, and leadership experience, then this role may be a great one for you! In this role, you will lead and mentor forward-thinking engineers and will own related activities and interactions with teams across Apple. You will work cross-functionally with key internal partners, researchers, product teams, and platform engineers to develop and deliver our products.
Responsibilities
Actively manage the performance of the team reporting to you and take responsibility for driving its outcome.
Build scalable GenAI platforms and applications.
Ensure products meet Apple's standards for performance, reliability, scalability, privacy, and user experience
Guide development of APIs and frameworks for agentic workflows and/or complex multi-step ML systems

Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of experience working on distributed systems
6+ years of experience in a management or leadership role
Deep understanding of GenAI fundamentals

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $195,700 and $338,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
