The Health SW team is a diverse, talented, and passionate group of engineers working at the center of Apple’s strategy to improve how people manage their health. We believe the latest AI development tools can enable more creative engineering work while building higher quality products faster.

We are seeking an exceptional engineering manager to lead engineering efforts to support and accelerate our adoption of AI technologies within our development workflow.

Description

In this role, you'll set the technical direction for a portfolio of tools and services to support AI powered development: from skills, CLI tools, workflows and novel agentic systems that serve both human developers and autonomous systems. You’ll be responsible for a focused and talented team of engineers delivering these tools and services, as well as supporting the broader engineering org as we adopt and iterate on new tools and workflows.

This role requires both hands on technical depth with AI systems and iOS codebases, and proven leadership managing high performance teams and leading groups through transitions. You will partner with EPMs, peer engineering managers and senior leadership to manage your roadmap and deliver outstanding results.

Responsibilities

Build and lead a team to deliver necessary tools and services to support AI assisted development within Health SW
Identify and drive prioritization of product and internal tooling work to unlock the benefits of AI assisted development across the Health SW organization
Coordinate with other teams at Apple to align our approach to AI adoption and influence the direction of central efforts to meet Health SW needs
Develop deep connections to our engineering team to understand pain points, address concerns about AI adoption and validate solutions
Establish and maintain excellent engineering standards, both in core deliverables and through the AI tools and services deployed by the team
Recruit, mentor and maintain engineering talent with expertise in AI and iOS development workflows
Work with leadership to gain support for your vision and roadmap for AI adoption in Health SW

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of professional software engineering experience including Apple platform technologies like iOS & macOS frameworks, Swift/Objective-C, Xcode, etc
5+ years managing engineering teams that design complex software systems
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent

Pay & Benefits — Sunnyvale, California, United States

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $267,800 and $401,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
