About the Korea Institutional Client Business Team

The Korea Institutional Client Business (ICB) team is responsible for developing and managing BlackRock’s relationships with Korea’s leading institutional investors, including pension funds, sovereign and public institutions, insurance companies, securities firms, asset managers, and other asset owners. The team partners closely with clients to deliver investment insights, portfolio solutions, and access to BlackRock’s global investment capabilities across public and private markets, helping clients achieve their long-term investment objectives.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Head of Institutional Client Business, Korea, drive BlackRock's institutional client strategy to accelerate business growth, deepen client relationships, and expand the firm's presence across key Korean institutional investors, including sovereign and public institutions, pension funds, insurance companies, securities firms, and other asset owners.
  • Develop and strengthen senior relationships with key institutional investors, acting as a trusted partner and representing BlackRock's broad investment capabilities across public while supporting private market opportunities where appropriate.
  • Lead business development efforts across strategic institutional accounts, identifying client needs, market trends, and investment opportunities to drive asset growth and revenue generation.
  • Build and execute a high-quality institutional pipeline by leveraging BlackRock's broad capabilities to deliver customized portfolio solutions that address clients' strategic investment objectives.
  • Lead complex client engagements, including investment presentations, due diligence meetings, RFP processes, and mandate negotiations, to secure new business and retain existing assets.
  • Monitor client portfolios, investment themes, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics within the Korean institutional market to proactively identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with regional and global investment professionals, product specialists, and business partners to deliver differentiated investment solutions and an exceptional client experience.
  • Serve as a senior member of the Korea Institutional Client Business team, contributing to talent development, team engagement, governance, and an inclusive, high-performance culture.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in the asset management or broader financial services industry, with a proven track record in institutional client coverage, business development, and relationship management.
  • Deep understanding of the Korean institutional investor landscape, including pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign and public institutions, financial institutions, and local distribution channels.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing senior-level client relationships, with the ability to navigate complex organizations and engage effectively with key investment and business decision-makers.
  • Strong knowledge of investment products and solutions with the ability to engage clients on asset allocation, portfolio construction, and investment strategies.
  • Strategic and commercially minded, strong market awareness, and the ability to identify and execute on evolving client opportunities.
  • Excellent relationship management, communication, and presentation skills.
