Key job responsibilities
- Define your team's security strategy, including how your team threat models GenAI and LLM-backed applications, secures agentic workflows, and drives adoption of secure-by-default infrastructure across builder teams.
- Design and evolve the team to match the work. Identify gaps in skills, roles, and coverage, restructure when priorities shift, and build a bench of future leaders who can operate independently.
- Partner with VP-level builder leadership across HR and Legal organizations to align security priorities with business priorities, using data to make the case and negotiating when goals compete.
- Own the transition from scheduled reviews to continuous automated evaluation. Set the roadmap, resource the investment, measure the outcomes, and course-correct as the model matures.
- Build the operational mechanisms your team runs on: escalation paths, inspection cadences, delivery metrics, and feedback loops that surface problems early and scale without adding headcount.
- Communicate the security posture and strategy for your domain to senior leadership. Write clearly, present confidently, and translate technical risk into business terms.
A day in the life
On a given day you might review a proposal for a new detection strategy covering LLM features across HR applications, coach a manager through a staffing decision, negotiate security priorities with a VP-level builder partner, or work through a team structure change to cover an emerging GenAI threat domain. You spend your time on the problems and people that set the direction for the next year and beyond, and you build the systems that keep the current quarter running without you in every decision.
About the team
SEALS is a team of security engineers and managers embedded with the development teams that build Amazon's HR and Legal applications. Your engineers partner directly with builders, reviewing designs and writing detections so security feedback arrives while the code is still fresh. You will collaborate with peer security teams covering finance and communications technology when risks cross domain boundaries. The portfolio is adopting GenAI and agentic capabilities fast, so the security problems are changing in real time. We value clear thinking over heroics, sustainable pace over crunch, and invest equally in technical and management career paths.

Amazon Security values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn’t followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don’t let it stop you from applying.
