The Government Affairs Senior Business Coordinator is an entry level position responsible for assisting in a variety of global operational risk and controls execution activities for Citi’s Government Affairs (GA) department. Reporting to the Head of GA Global Operations Control (GAOps Control) and based in Washington, D.C. This role provides coordinating support in a fast-paced environment while focusing on timeliness, quality, details, and accuracy. This role is a critical addition to a three-person team based in Washington, D.C. and Florida that enables Citi’s political engagement activities globally while protecting the firm from legal, regulatory, financial, and reputational risks through effective compliance and risk management. Our team’s success is measured by a consistent track record of strong audit outcomes.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Business Coordinator works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to complete business deliverables including:

  • Coordinating budget tracking, invoice processing, third-party onboarding and ongoing monitoring, sponsorship governance, public disclosure reporting, legislator constituent inquiries, records management, Managers Control Assessment (MCA) activities, global restricted commodity governance, information security requirements, information technology and regulatory support

  • Supporting the GAOps Control Help Desk stakeholder inquiries

  • Ensuring, through effective implementation of system controls, GA staff compliance with internal policies and procedures and external lobbying, campaign finance, pay-to-play, and gift laws.

  • Appropriately assessing risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, through compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years relevant experience, preferably within a large, complex financial services organization or similarly highly-regulated environment

  • Demonstrated success in client service and administration

  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written, verbal, and active listening skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to partner with both cross-functional colleagues and senior leaders

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented culture

  • Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to see the broader business context

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills

  • Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and a commitment to continuous improvement and excellence

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with uses of AI

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
