Sr Security Engineer, AWS Infrastructure Security

AWS Network Security is looking for Sr. Security Engineers who can drive and improve Identity outcomes across the network for the largest cloud provider in the world. AWS is architected to be the most flexible and secure cloud computing environment available today. Our core infrastructure is built to satisfy the security requirements for the government, global banks, and other high-sensitivity organizations but the challenge doesn’t end there as each day we work to raise the bar for our customers. A Sr. Security Engineer in Amazon will be strong in multiple security domains and sought out for advice on technical issues. Efficient time management skills are required along with the ability to deliver results in the face of uncertainty. Engineers in this role must show exemplary judgment in making technical trade-offs between short versus long term security and business goals. They must also demonstrate resilience and navigate difficult situations with composure and tact. The successful candidate must be one that can handle several difficult challenges and problems, and can make risk-based assessments founded on data and facts.

The successful candidate will have a good mix of deep technical knowledge and a demonstrated background in network security and software systems, specifically with Identity and Access Management (IAM). We value broad and deep technical knowledge, specifically in the fields of cryptography, network security, software security, security operations and incident response.

Basic Qualifications

- 4+ years of non-internship background in troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating complex tasks using command line tools experience
- 5+ years of work in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans experience
- 4+ years of (non-internship) scripting, programming, and security code review in common programming languages experience
- Knowledge of at least two of the following programming languages: Scala, Java, Python, C/C++, or Go
- Experience (non-internship) in scripting, programming, and security code reviewing in a common programming language
- Experience (non-internship) in troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating complex tasks using command line tools
- Experience working in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans
- Experience (non-internship) in industry-based security vulnerabilities identification, attack patterns, and remediation techniques
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques or equivalent
- Experience with security in service-oriented architectures/microservices and web services

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
