Job Description

The Global Pricing Strategy team at Visa is responsible for managing pricing as a strategic lever to drive revenue growth, accelerate market adoption of innovation, align incentives across the ecosystem, and enable consistent execution at global scale.

Overview:

The Director, Global Pricing Governance & Center of Excellence is responsible for establishing and operating the governance, frameworks, operating model, and capabilities that enable effective pricing decisions across Visa. This role serves as the steward of Global Pricing Governance, leads the Pricing Center of Excellence (COE), drives enterprise pricing enablement and capability-building initiatives, and oversees a portfolio of high-priority global pricing programs with significant revenue, execution, and reputational implications.

The role acts as a senior partner to Product, Finance, Legal, Deal Teams, Regional Pricing, Commercialization, and Go-to-Market leaders to ensure pricing decisions are analytically sound, operationally executable, globally aligned, and compliant with established policies and governance standards.

Success in this role requires strategic thinking, operational excellence, strong analytical rigor, and the ability to translate complex, ambiguous challenges into scalable frameworks, repeatable processes, and measurable business outcomes. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a highly matrixed global environment and is passionate about leveraging AI and modern technologies to improve pricing decision-making, governance effectiveness, and organizational productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Pricing Strategy, Governance & Strategic Initiatives:

  • Own and operate the Pricing Governance framework, including policy, decision rights, escalation paths, and documentation standards
  • Maintain and evolve the Global Pricing Policy in partnership with Regional teams, Legal, Finance, and other control partners
  • Assess, pilot, and implement new pricing ideas while ensuring compliance with governance standards and risk controls
  • Define KPIs for pricing effectiveness, governance health, and execution quality; track performance and drive continuous improvement
  • Lead and own complex, cross‑functional pricing strategy initiatives tied to Visa’s enterprise priorities, with accountability for end‑to‑end outcomes
  • Ensure pricing proposals are analytically rigorous, internally consistent, and aligned across products, regions, and business units
  • Navigate and resolve matrixed decision‑making challenges; proactively identify risks, remove blockers, and escalate when required

People Leadership & Operating Model:

  • Manage, coach, and develop two direct reports, building capability in analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and executive presence
  • Contribute to talent development across Pricing by mentoring other junior team members
  • Establish and uphold common standards for service quality, rigor, responsiveness, and cross‑functional collaboration

Pricing Strategy & Center of Excellence (COE):

  • Build and lead Visa's Pricing Center of Excellence, establishing common methodologies, frameworks, tools, and best practices across global pricing teams
  • Champion continuous improvement of pricing processes, operating models, and ways of working.
  • Lead high-priority cross-functional pricing initiatives aligned with Visa's enterprise growth objectives.
  • Partner with Product, Finance, Sales, and Regional leaders to evaluate emerging pricing opportunities and complex business decisions.
  • Ensure pricing proposals are analytically rigorous, financially sound, operationally executable, and aligned across stakeholders.

This role is a Hybrid position to be located in our Foster City, CA office location. Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD.
  • Demonstrated experience owning complex, cross‑functional decision frameworks or governance processes
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complexity into executive‑level decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD.
  • 12 or more years of experience in payments, financial services, strategy consulting, or a related field
  • Proven ability to lead through influence in highly matrixed, global organizations
  • Experience managing and developing high‑performing teams
  • Executive‑level communication skills with a track record of influencing senior leaders
  • Bias for action balanced with strong risk awareness and policy discipline
  • Continuous learner mindset with openness to feedback and coaching.


Information for US Applicants

For roles located in the US, the estimated salary range for this position is $188,400.00 to $ 301,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
