The Research Partner Account Manager (PAM) is responsible for driving annual sales, market development, and strategic growth across Illumina's Research portfolio in India. The role will lead engagement with key research institutions, government organizations, academia, national genomics programs, and strategic research partners to accelerate adoption of Illumina's sequencing and multiomics solutions.
The position focuses on achieving revenue growth, improving price realization, expanding technology utilization, and creating long-term demand through scientific partnerships, KOL engagement, and collaborative research initiatives. The Research PAM will serve as the primary commercial and scientific interface for strategic research customers, working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Scientific Applications, Government Affairs, and Global teams to execute Illumina's research growth strategy across metro and Tier 2/3 markets.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the Research segment strategy for India aligned with Illumina's commercial objectives.
- Build strategic partnerships with government agencies, research institutes, academia, genome centers, and national research programs.
- Drive revenue growth, price realization, instrument utilization, and consumables adoption across the research portfolio.
- Identify and develop new strategic research opportunities, including national genomics initiatives, population genomics, agriculture, and translational research.
- Expand geographic reach across metro and Tier 2/3 cities to increase research market penetration.
- Drive adoption of emerging technologies, including multiomics, through scientific engagement and solution-based selling.
- Develop and execute collaborative account growth plans for key research institutions.
- Partner with Marketing and Scientific Affairs to execute KOL engagement, educational programs, workshops, and demand generation initiatives.
- Build relationships with principal investigators, scientific leaders, institutional decision-makers, and funding agencies.
- Lead strategic opportunity planning, forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM reporting.
- Coordinate cross-functional resources to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor competitive landscape, funding opportunities, and market trends to identify future growth opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with Illumina policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

Position Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in genomics, life sciences, molecular biology, or related research/commercial roles.
- Proven experience managing strategic research accounts, government institutions, academia, or national research programs.
- Strong understanding of next-generation sequencing, genomics workflows, and emerging multiomics technologies.
- Demonstrated success in consultative, solution-based selling and scientific engagement.
- Experience developing long-term collaborations with key opinion leaders, research institutions, and government stakeholders.
- Strong strategic planning, communication, negotiation, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Experience working across diverse geographic regions in India; exposure to South Asia (Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal) is an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India to support customer engagement and business development.
