About the role
Original posting provided by Citi
Services provides global solutions that help corporations, financial institutions, public sector and commercial clients optimize operations and drive their business forward. Through our five business lines – Liquidity Management Services, Payments, Trade & Working Capital Solutions, Investor Services and Issuer Services - we provide cash management, payments/receivables solutions, working capital solutions, post-trade securities services and issuer services across Citi’s global network.
Citi is looking for a Structured Trade Senior Group Manager to lead origination, structuring, and execution of complex trade transactions across the globe. Sitting within Citi's Services business — one of the world's most expansive trade and cash management networks, operating across more than 90 countries — carries significant strategic ownership across a material global portfolio. This is a rare opportunity to shape next-generation trade and working capital solutions, drive growth into new markets, and work with a high-performing team at one of the world's leading financial institutions.
Responsibilities
Originate and lead the execution of complex, cross-border trade finance transactions, acting as a primary structuring authority for North America.
Define optimal transaction structures that address client needs across all critical dimensions, including accounting treatment, balance sheet and capital efficiency, cross-border constraints, level of recourse, legal vehicle selection, and operational risk.
Lead the development of new execution capabilities targeting emerging market segments, including e-commerce, inventory finance, and middle market clients, bringing these opportunities to market with speed and precision.
Partner with asset distribution and balance sheet management teams to secure market appetite for transactions, manage capital objectives, and build and lead bank syndicates for large-scale deals.
Generate new origination and distribution channels in collaboration with capital markets teams, with a focus on bundled solutions and emerging markets growth.
Contribute to team strategy and drive performance across a team of Trade Structuring Analysts and Specialists, serving as the first line of accountability for credit, operational, and compliance risk within the group.
Identify replicable structures and cross-sector opportunities, strengthening connectivity between regional transactors and expanding the business pipeline through targeted market research and client engagement.
Represent Citi at relevant industry forums and trade councils, monitoring market trends and translating them into timely, actionable solutions for the business.
Required Qualifications & Skills
15 or more years of experience in trade & working capital solutions, structured finance or a related field
Deep expertise in trade product knowledge and credit risk management, including direct experience structuring transactions across trade finance, commodities, asset distribution, and related financing pillars.
Track record of executing complex financing transactions with global counterparties, including corporates, financial sponsors, fintechs, investors, and legal and accounting advisors.
Strong command of risk governance frameworks, with the ability to assess credit, operational, and compliance risks and maintain accountability at both a team and portfolio level.
Exceptional organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple concurrent transactions, priorities, and stakeholder relationships across regions.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent university-level education in a relevant field.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
Master's degree in finance, business, or a related discipline.
Familiarity with middle office, portfolio management, and operational reconciliation processes within a structured trade or capital markets environment.
Established relationships within trade finance industry bodies, forums, or advisory councils.
