Role Overview

We are seeking a visionary, highly technical, and Hands-on Senior Principal Platform & AI Architect with 10+ years of experience to lead the design, development, and security of our next-generation cloud platforms, enterprise API ecosystems, and AI-driven solutions.

This role is designed for an elite architect who thrives on the cutting edge of technology—someone who can define enterprise-grade cloud and AI strategies while remaining deeply hands-on in the codebase, designing core frameworks, writing infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and building secure, developer-centric environments.

Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)

• Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results

• Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues

• Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards

• Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals

• Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources

• Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary

• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Recommended Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, cloud architecture, or related technology roles.

• Proven experience designing and implementing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native architectures across enterprise environments.

• Strong hands-on development experience building and supporting Java and/or .NET/C# microservices, frameworks, and reusable engineering components.

• Expertise designing, securing, and governing REST, gRPC, and GraphQL APIs using enterprise API management solutions.

• Experience building and supporting event-driven architectures and distributed systems leveraging modern messaging and streaming technologies.

• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and platform provisioning using industry-standard tools and practices.

• Experience evaluating, implementing, and governing Cloud Development Environments (CDEs) and developer productivity platforms.

• Hands-on experience integrating Generative AI solutions, AI-enabled developer tooling, and implementing AI security and governance controls.

• Demonstrated success leading technical strategy, driving architecture decisions, and influencing adoption across complex global organizations.

• Experience managing and mentoring geographically distributed engineering teams.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience

• Master’s degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$176,720.00 - $265,080.00
