Do you thrive on solving real-time problems that keep critical infrastructure running? As an Operations Technology II engineer within the Facility Operations Center (FOC), you will remotely monitor data center power and cooling systems across the globe, acting as the first line of response when alarms fire. Your analysis and quick decision-making directly protect the availability of AWS Data Centers and the millions of customers who depend on them. If you enjoy working with complex mechanical and electrical systems in a fast-paced environment and want to grow your technical expertise, this role is for you.

Key job responsibilities
- Analyze alarm monitoring systems in real time, identify abnormal conditions, and execute established escalation processes to protect data center availability.
- Review work requests submitted by field technicians for compliance with safety and operational standards, ensuring work is authorized before execution.
- Create, document, and track incident tickets while coordinating with onsite data center teams to drive timely resolution.
- Troubleshoot moderate-to-high-complexity issues across mechanical, electrical, and fire-protection systems using technical documentation, prints, and operational dashboards.
- Provide process-improvement feedback to site leadership based on operating experience, and assist in developing updated maintenance procedures.

A day in the life
Your shift begins with a handoff briefing and a review of active alarms and open tickets from the prior watch. Throughout the day you monitor dashboards covering power, cooling, and fire-protection systems, triaging alerts and coordinating remotely with onsite engineers. Between alarm events you review incoming work requests for compliance, document findings, and collaborate with teammates to refine response procedures. The FOC operates on a follow-the-sun model, so your fixed daytime schedule supports 24/7 coverage without overnight shifts.

About the team
The Facility Operations Center is the command center for AWS Data Center operations, providing continuous global monitoring 24/7/365 through a follow-the-sun model. Our work is guided by three pillars: Safety, Security, and Availability. We are an inclusive team that values collaboration, clear communication, and a shared commitment to keeping AWS infrastructure reliable for customers worldwide. If you want to make a tangible impact on cloud reliability at a global scale, the FOC is the place to do it.
