Overview
Payments Network Technology is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead teams responsible for building, testing, and operating payment network services. This role combines people leadership with software engineering, automation, resilience, and operational excellence across authorization, clearing, tokenization, and related payment processing platforms.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Lead, coach, and develop software engineers while fostering an inclusive and high-performing engineering culture.
• Manage team capacity, hiring, career development, and succession planning.
• Drive the design, development, testing, and support of Java-based payment applications and services.
• Lead automation, resilience, performance, UAT, and chaos engineering practices across applications and platforms.
• Partner with Product Management, Architecture, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions.
• Drive engineering excellence through automation, CI/CD, observability, and operational readiness.
• Establish quality gates, release readiness criteria, and continuous improvement practices.
• Communicate delivery progress, technical risks, and strategic priorities to stakeholders and leadership.
• Mentor technical leads and support engineering best practices across multiple teams.
Essential Skills
• Experience managing software engineering teams and leading engineers through all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Strong technical background in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Experience with test automation frameworks such as Cucumber, JUnit/TestNG, and API automation tools.
• Knowledge of resilience engineering, performance testing, chaos engineering, and operational excellence practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native platforms, observability, and DevOps practices.
• Experience defining engineering metrics and driving process improvements.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams delivering large-scale enterprise platforms.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, automation strategies, and quality engineering practices.
• Experience leading resilience, performance, security, and non-functional testing initiatives.
• Ability to balance people leadership with technical decision-making and execution oversight.
• Experience managing complex cross-functional deliveries involving multiple systems and stakeholder groups.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working across globally distributed engineering, product, architecture, and operations teams.
• Experience applying AI-assisted engineering and validation practices to improve productivity and quality.
• Payments industry experience with authorization, clearing, tokenization, settlement, or transaction processing platforms is required.
