The Company

PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years. Creating innovative experiences that make moving money, selling, and shopping simple, personalized, and secure, PayPal empowers consumers and businesses in approximately 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy.

We operate a global, two-sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We help merchants and consumers connect, transact, and complete payments, whether they are online or in person. PayPal is more than a connection to third-party payment networks. We provide proprietary payment solutions accepted by merchants that enable the completion of payments on our platform on behalf of our customers.

We offer our customers the flexibility to use their accounts to purchase and receive payments for goods and services, as well as the ability to transfer and withdraw funds. We enable consumers to exchange funds more safely with merchants using a variety of funding sources, which may include a bank account, a PayPal or Venmo account balance, PayPal and Venmo branded credit products, a credit card, a debit card, certain cryptocurrencies, or other stored value products such as gift cards, and eligible credit card rewards.  Our PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products also make it safer and simpler for friends and family to transfer funds to each other. We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Our beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day.  We live each day guided by our core values of Inclusion, Innovation, Collaboration, and Wellness. Together, our values ensure that we work together as one global team with our customers at the center of everything we do – and they push us to ensure we take care of ourselves, each other, and our communities.

Job Summary:

What you need to know about the role

Australia is one of PayPal’s largest markets. The next phase of growth will come from identifying opportunities across consumer, SMB, enterprise, partner and unbranded channels, then turning them into scalable playbooks.

In this build role, you will shape the value proposition, commercial model, partner and product pathway, go-to-market approach and operating model for growth opportunities. You will lead teams across Sales, Product, Marketing, Risk, Pricing, Legal, Finance and Operations, aligning goals, prioritising work and measuring outcomes. You will pilot ideas, scale initiatives and redirect effort when pilots do not deliver.

Success will be measured by lasting capabilities and impact you create beyond each initiative.

Meet our Team

You will join APAC’s Market Development & Channel Partnerships team, reporting to the Sr. Director and based in Australia. Partnering with Australian leaders, you will build scalable APAC capabilities.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Participate in complex problem resolution for sales development.
  • Lead complex projects with diverse scope.
  • Determine methods and procedures for new assignments.
  • Implement initiatives resulting in global process improvements.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the sales development team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

Your way to impact

  • You will find the cross-segment growth areas — identifying and sizing the opportunities in Australia that sit across consumer, SMB, enterprise, partner and unbranded channels rather than inside any one of them.
  • You will design scalable playbooks — turning each priority growth area into a repeatable motion covering value proposition, commercial construct, partner and product path, go-to-market and operating model.
  • You will pilot with intent — securing the investment, standing up time-boxed pilots with clear success criteria, and making evidence-based scale, iterate or stop calls.
  • You will scale what works into long-term impact — building the enablement, governance and tooling that let the market run a proven playbook without you, and packaging it for reuse in other APAC markets.
  • You will lead cross-functional teams without direct authority — setting shared goals and decision rights across Sales, Product, Marketing, Risk, Pricing, Legal, Finance and Operations, and holding the group to outcomes.

Your day-to-day

  • Identify, size and prioritise cross-segment growth areas for Australia, building the business case and securing leadership alignment on where to invest
  • Design end-to-end playbooks for each priority growth area: target segments and partners, value proposition, commercial construct and economics, product and integration path, risk and compliance approach, sales motion and demand generation
  • Stand up and run pilots — define hypotheses, success criteria and instrumentation up front; secure the funding and cross-functional resourcing; run them to a decision point
  • Make and defend scale / iterate / stop decisions on the evidence, and reallocate investment away from plays that do not clear the bar
  • Scale proven playbooks into business-as-usual — build the enablement, tooling, templates, governance and operating rhythm that let market teams execute repeatably at volume
  • Lead the cross-functional team behind each play: set shared goals, decision rights, sequencing and ways of working across Sales, Product GTM, Marketing, Risk, Pricing, Legal, Finance and Operations
  • Negotiate the enabling-function commitments a playbook depends on — product and integration roadmap, pricing constructs, risk and compliance paths, servicing — including scope, sequencing, owners and dates
  • Originate and lead the partnerships that a growth area requires, from first conversation through commercial terms, integration, launch and ramp
  • Own the portfolio scorecard across pilots and scaled plays — pipeline, activation, TPV, revenue, unit economics and partner health; run root-cause analysis on deviations to plan
  • Track competitive, regulatory and consumer-behaviour shifts in Australia (including scheme, BNPL, A2A and wallet dynamics) and feed them back into the growth-area portfolio
  • Package and transfer proven playbooks to other APAC markets, and represent the work in regional and global forums with clear recommendations

Nice to have

  • Experience taking a play built in one market and scaling it across several
  • Exposure to both branded and unbranded (PSP / acquiring) payment models
  • Background in a growth, new-ventures or commercial-incubation function
  • Prior experience in a global organisation operating across APAC markets
