This is more than a typical technology consulting role. You'll work at the intersection of innovation and public service, helping government agencies, universities, and K-12 schools architect solutions that modernize their operations, improve citizen and student experiences, and achieve mission-critical outcomes. Your ability to understand complex technical challenges and translate them into actionable solutions will help grow our State and Local Government and Higher Education businesses while making a meaningful impact on communities across the region.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and deliver cloud architecture solutions that meet infrastructure and application requirements for State and Local Government and Higher Education customers, incorporating best practices for security, scalability, and performance
- Lead architecture reviews, technical workshops, and proof-of-concept projects that demonstrate innovative cloud solutions and help customers envision transformative possibilities for their organizations
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor by taking the time to understand each customer's unique business context, technology challenges, and long-term goals, then translating those needs into technical requirements
- Collaborate with account teams, professional services, and AWS engineering groups to scope customer engagements with clear objectives, drive timely delivery of value, and ensure customer success throughout their cloud adoption journey
- Educate customers and internal teams by developing and delivering technical content such as presentations, workshops, and best practice guidance, while capturing and sharing knowledge that advances the broader Solutions Architecture community
A day in the life
Your day might begin with an architecture review session with a state agency exploring modernization options, followed by leading a hands-on workshop that demonstrates serverless computing for a university IT team. After collaborating with your account team to develop a migration strategy for a K-12 district, you'll build a proof-of-concept that illustrates the art of the possible with analytics and AI/ML services. You'll wrap up by joining a strategic planning discussion with a higher education CIO about how cloud technology can drive their institution's digital transformation objectives.
About the team
You will join a collaborative team of 10 Solutions Architects dedicated to supporting State and Local Government, Higher Education, and K-12 customers across the mid-Atlantic region. Based primarily in the DC metro area with colleagues in North Carolina and South Carolina, the team works together to deliver exceptional technical guidance and drive cloud adoption across the public sector.
Our team thrives on the unique mission-driven nature of our customers and the opportunity to enable organizations that serve communities and students. We foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge-sharing, and innovation, where each team member contributes their expertise while growing their technical skills across multiple domain areas. As part of Amazon Web Services, you'll have access to endless learning opportunities and the chance to work with cloud technologies that are shaping the future of government and education.
