DESCRIPTION:
Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, where you'll implement strategic procurement initiatives that make a meaningful impact on global healthcare, research, and environmental protection. As a Sr Procurement/Sourcing Specialist, you'll develop complex category strategies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain performance, reduce costs, and ensure continuous improvement. You'll leverage your expertise to develop and execute effective sourcing solutions while building strong supplier relationships that advance our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead tactical sourcing activities across Indirect categories.
- Manage contract lifecycle process (including uploading contracts, developing standard templates and monitoring / tracking expiry)
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms for assigned spend categories
- Research potential vendors, develop and execute RFP for spend below $500K.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation is translated to RFP and contracts as appropriate
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking to inform sourcing decisions
- Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing delivering and record annual P&L savings
- Support projects assigned for various sourcing activities
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior sourcing generalists on category-specific requirements
Functional & technical skills
- Sourcing expert – strong experience with sourcing process, supplier management, contract negotiations and procure to pay operations
- Experience with ERP systems, spend analytics, eSourcing, and contract management systems required
- Excellent category-specific sourcing and category management skills in key portfolios of spend in Indirect (e.g., Services, IT, Facilities)
- Expert understanding of multi-step strategic sourcing processes and strategies
- Experience negotiating agreements/contracts with suppliers
- Understanding of procurement processes, tools, and best practices
Leadership / behavioral
- Thrive in an entrepreneurial environment – self-starter who looks for ways to improve existing processes
- Strong customer service orientation, keen to deliver on internal customer needs
- Desire to mentor and coach junior team members
- Analytical thinker who makes decisions using data and insights – will need to prepare analysis to develop sourcing strategy / scenarios / savings
Experience & Qualification
- 8+ years of procurement experience (preferred within Indirect categories e.g., Services, IT, Facilities, Marketing, etc.)
- Degree in supply chain management, operations or business administration
- Strong communication and presentation skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and project management tools
- Ability to work collaboratively across global, cross-functional teams
- Proven English language competency (verbal and written)
