Position Summary
Join Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Semiconductor Business Unit Finance team as a Sr Manager, Finance supporting our global Semiconductor Sales organization within the Electron Microscopy business. This is a Global Commercial Finance leadership role reporting to the Finance Director, Semiconductor Business Unit. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial acumen, advanced analytical capabilities, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed, global environment. This role requires a self‑starter who is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and comfortable influencing senior business partners through data‑driven insights.
Work Location & On‑Site Requirement
This position requires onsite attendance at our Hillsboro, Oregon office (5350 NE Dawson Creek Drive) a minimum of four (4) days per week. Please note that relocation assistance and employment sponsorship support are not available at this time.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead the Monthly Business Review (MBR) and Quarterly Business Review (QBR) processes, coordinating inputs from Product Management, Strategic Marketing, R&D, and commercial teams.
- Prepare and consolidate financial performance analyses (Bridges), including revenue, bookings, gross margin, and EBITA performance reviews and variance explanations.
- Lead quarterly portfolio review processes, partnering with Strategic Marketing to develop financial summaries and rolling six-quarter forecasts.
- Coordinate and manage the Strategic Planning (STRAP) process, developing five-year financial plans and supporting strategic decision-making.
- Lead the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process, managing timelines, stakeholder deliverables, financial schedules, target validation activities, and executive presentations.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance the digital roadmap for Semi Finance
Gross Margin & Profitability Management (Cogs Monitoring)
- Drive gross margin improvement initiatives by identifying and leading cost reduction and productivity projects.
- Manage the warranty expenses and spotting trends and collaborate with BU partners for RCCM.
- Cost of Quality reporting (Special Warranty reserve)
Pricing & Commercial Analytics
- Lead monthly pricing analytics and reporting, evaluating price realization across customer segments, product lines, and geographic regions.
- Partner with Pricing and Commercial teams to identify key drivers of pricing performance and margin expansion opportunities.
- Analyze sales funnel activity and quoted pricing trends to ensure alignment with target pricing strategies.
- Manage the annual price roll process, coordinating updates to target sales prices and list prices across the organization.
Investment & Return on Investment Analysis
- Manage and report Product Vitality (PV2) metrics on a quarterly basis.
- Review and challenge ROI models supporting R&D phase-gate reviews and product development investments.
- Develop business cases and financial analyses for capital investment requests exceeding established approval thresholds.
- Partner with business leaders to evaluate strategic investments, capital expenditures
