Original job description

Content provided by the employer

Amazon DynamoDB is one of the largest and most widely used distributed database systems in the world - and for us, it’s still Day 1. We continue to expand DynamoDB’s capabilities and scale, and we’re looking for a deeply technical, team-first Senior Software Development Engineer to help drive the next phase of innovation.

DynamoDB engineers solve some of the hardest problems in distributed systems: global scale, high availability, fault tolerance, and millisecond latency at global traffic levels. You will build and evolve services that route massive volumes of customer traffic across thousands of machines, ensuring high throughput and low latency under constantly growing demand. The quality bar is exceptionally high, and the systems you build will directly power mission-critical workloads for customers worldwide.

This is a hands-on role with end-to-end ownership. You will:
- Drive technical design and architecture for complex, distributed systems
- Translate ambiguous requirements into durable, scalable solutions
- Lead implementation and deliver features that operate at global scale
- Own operational excellence, monitoring, and continuous improvement
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team

You’ll work alongside highly motivated peers and receive mentorship from Principal and Senior Principal Engineers, while being expected to independently make high-judgment technical decisions.

If you are excited about building resilient, high-performance distributed systems and influencing the technical direction of one of AWS’s flagship services, we’d love to talk.
