DESCRIPTION:
Join our innovative team and make a meaningful impact on global scientific discovery. As a Software Engineer II, you'll develop sophisticated software solutions for scientific instruments and platforms. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement and maintain software that enables breakthrough research in fields like cancer treatment, environmental protection, and advanced materials. Our modern technology stack includes cloud services, microservices architecture, and development tools. You'll have opportunities to work on complex technical problems while contributing to our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

REQUIREMENTS:
Python-based backend services and REST APIs.
Database design, complex SQL development, and performance optimisation.
UI development for project tracking, dashboards, reporting, and workflow management.
Agentic AI capabilities for workflow automation, multi-step processes, intelligent recommendations, and human-in-the-loop operations.
Enhancement and debugging of existing applications, integrations, and legacy modules.
Production-quality development using advanced OOP, SOLID principles, testing, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.

Required Skills:
Strong Python development and debugging skills.
Advanced knowledge of OOP, SOLID principles, and software design patterns.
Strong SQL and relational database knowledge, including schema design, transactions, indexing, query optimisation, and execution-plan analysis.
Practical experience with Git, GitHub, branching, pull requests, merge-conflict resolution, and code reviews.
Experience developing and integrating REST APIs.
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript, and a modern UI framework.
Ability to understand unfamiliar repositories, troubleshoot complex code, and perform root-cause analysis.

Foundational knowledge of Agentic AI, including AI agents, tool integration, prompt design, RAG, orchestration, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop workflows.

Added Advantage:
Experience with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid project-management frameworks.
Exposure to sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, dependency tracking, and release management.
Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub Projects, or similar tools.
Familiarity with LLM frameworks, vector databases, or agent-development frameworks.
