Job Purpose

Join our collaborative team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Senior Field Application Scientist, where you will provide world-class scientific expertise and support to our customers in their protein expression and advanced cell culture workflows including organoid, stem cell and primary immune cell modification and culture. As a Field Application Scientist, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor helping customers optimize their use of our innovative technologies across advanced therapeutic modalities and supporting their journey from translational research to clinical manufacturing. In this role, you’ll deliver high-quality pre-sales and post-sales support through scientific seminars, product demonstrations, hands-on training, troubleshooting assistance and technical consultation on relevant applications. You will also play a key role in driving end-to-end execution of our workflows with our collaborators.

Working closely with sales teams and cross-functional partners, you’ll help customers achieve significant discoveries while building long-term relationships that drive business success. Responsibilities Portfolio Support

• Provide independent on-site pre-sales demos and post-sales product and scientific workflow trainings.

• Deliver product-and workflow- specific consultations focused on advanced cell culture processes utilizing Thermo Fisher Scientific’s leading brand such as Gibco®.  

• Prepare and present seminars to a wide array of audiences.

• Develop and lead hands-on workshops, demos, and internal and external trainings.

• Provide market sensing mechanism, identifying new opportunities and trends, and highlighting gaps in current portfolio.

• Work with internal teams to develop and update workflow applications and education content for customer training in the form of videos, seminars, training manuals etc.

• Connect with the global and regional Field Applications and Technical Sales teams and share insights to new applications.

• Support marketing and business development functions in developing new content around data generated in-house or with collaborators.

• Work with the regional and local scientists to lead, facilitate and follow through with the implementation of new projects with collaborators.  

Experience:

• Required: MSc or PhD in Biology, Cell Biology, or related field.

• At least 3 - 5 years of laboratory or commercial field applications experience. Post-graduate research experience in stem cell biology and/or immunology may be considered in lieu of commercial experience.

• Experience with data analysis, experimental design, process development and technical troubleshooting.

• Knowledgeable with cell-based gene modification and cell expansion approaches for immune and stem cells. Prior practical experiences with induced pluripotent stem cells would be an advantage.

• Additional experience in Flow Cytometry and using closed system cell manufacturing platform are a plus.  

• Must possess strong understanding of customer challenges associated with transition to clinical workflows, and the relevant industry standards and best practices.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

• Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence for understanding customer needs.

• Must excel in a client-facing role and be comfortable with speaking publicly to technical audiences.

• Able to work with a multi-disciplinary matrixed group that includes commercial representatives, R&D scientists, product management and marketing development representatives.

• Demonstrate judgment, tact and subtlety in handling internal and external members, and confidential and proprietary information.

• Ability to travel 50% of the time.
