The Windows and Devices (W&D) Finance organization is a key driver of Microsoft’s strategic mission, partnering across product, engineering, and business teams to deliver financial leadership and enable innovation. Within this organization, the Hardware & Margins Finance team manages a diverse and dynamic Hardware portfolio, including Surface Devices, Xbox Hardware, and Accessories, working closely with Hardware Development, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations to set and achieve financial objectives. 

The Senior Finance Manager – Hardware & Margins Finance will support the Devices Paid Services team, leading financial management of Revenue and COGS for Microsoft Protection Plans across Surface and Xbox devices. This role will drive growth, profitability, and strategic decision-making for one of the highest-margin businesses in the Surface portfolio while partnering closely across Finance, Product, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain. The Senior Finance Manager – Hardware & Margins Finance candidate brings leadership, partnership, and analytical skills, with a proven ability to influence decisions, navigate complexity, and deliver business impact in a fast-paced environment.



Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end financial performance of the Microsoft Protection Plans business, including Revenue, COGS, Gross Margin, forecasting, and financial accountability. 

  • Serve as the strategic finance partner to the Devices Paid Services leadership team, influencing business decisions and driving initiatives that accelerate growth, expand market penetration, and maximize profitability. 

  • Lead executive business reviews and performance reporting, delivering insights on key business drivers, opportunities, risks, and recommended actions to senior leaders. 

  • Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, compelling narratives that enable effective decision-making and drive accountability across stakeholders. 

  • Identify and drive opportunities for margin expansion, cost optimization, process improvements, and risk mitigation while maintaining a proficient controls environment. 

  • Lead forecasting, budgeting, monthly close, and long-range planning processes, ensuring financial accuracy, rigor, and transparency. 

  • Drive operational excellence through simplification, automation, and continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities. 

 



Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.


Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.
