Amazon Global Engineering Services (GES) is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented Sr. Supply Chain Manager to serve as the Vendor Process Lead within our NA Startup Support organization. This role operates horizontally across the full vendor portfolio, rather than owning specific vendor relationships vertically, you will own the strategy, standards, and performance frameworks that make the entire vendor ecosystem stronger every year.
You will be responsible for developing scorecards and performance frameworks, influencing Amazon's vendor sourcing strategy in partnership with Global Procurement Operations, building structured development pathways for contingent workers, and maintaining the analytical tools and dashboards that give leadership visibility into vendor portfolio health. This role requires someone who can see patterns across the portfolio that no single project team can see, and act on them before they repeat.
This role requires up to 25% regional travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Relocation assistance may be provided.
Key job responsibilities
Vendor Portfolio Strategy & Performance
Own portfolio-wide vendor performance strategy, developing scorecards, accountability frameworks, and strategic relationship management approaches that drive measurable improvement year over year
Identify cross-vendor performance patterns, conduct root-cause analyses on systemic issues, and implement corrective actions that have broad organizational impact
Build and maintain vendor performance dashboards, KPI frameworks, and analytical tools that provide leadership with real-time visibility into portfolio health
Ensure that vendor performance data informs sourcing decisions, contract renewals, and strategic investment
Sourcing Strategy & GPO Partnership
Influence Amazon's vendor sourcing and integration strategy in partnership with Global Procurement Operations (GPO)
Evaluate vendor capabilities at the portfolio level, perform strategic assessments, and generate data-driven recommendations that shape sourcing decisions
Contingent Worker Development
Design onboarding frameworks, skill-building programs, and performance standards that create consistent requirements for contingent workers
Partner with PXT, GES leadership, and execution teams to ensure CW development programs are aligned with organizational needs
Cross-Functional Influence & Stakeholder Management
Influence senior leadership across GES, Finance, GPO, Launch, and partner organizations to align on vendor management standards, secure resources, and drive adoption of best practices
Own executive-level communication including Monthly Business Reviews, presenting strategic insights, risk assessments, and recommendations that shape investment decisions
Partner with IAS/TVM (technical vendor strategy), execution teams, and cross-functional partners to ensure vendor strategy is integrated across the full project lifecycle
Operational Mechanisms & Standards
Establish and maintain vendor management mechanisms including reporting cadences, performance reviews, escalation processes, and continuous improvement frameworks
Drive adoption of vendor management standards across the portfolio, ensuring consistency in how vendor performance is measured, communicated, and acted upon
Create comprehensive training programs and knowledge management systems that enable rapid onboarding and reduce single-threaded dependencies
A day in the life
Global Engineering Services (GES) NA Startup Support operates at the intersection of strategic vendor management and engineering execution across North America. A day in the life may involve reviewing vendor scorecard data to identify systemic performance patterns, conducting a strategic planning session with your IAS/TVM counterpart on sourcing alignment, facilitating a vendor executive business review, or presenting portfolio risk assessments to GES leadership. You will engage with vendor executives, coordinate with GPO on sourcing decisions, align with execution teams on field performance, and drive cross-portfolio intelligence that no single project team can see. The Vendor Management function is highly collaborative, working daily to make vendor performance consequential, vendor relationships strategic, and Amazon's supply base stronger every year.
About the team
The Vendor Management function within NA Startup Support is a strategy-focused team that manages Amazon's vendor relationships across the full portfolio, from qualification through active project execution, performance accountability, and continuous improvement. This function exists because vendor performance directly impacts whether Amazon's network launches on time, on budget, and at the quality level operations require. We build strategic relationships that unlock decisions site-level teams cannot reach, see patterns across the portfolio that no single project can see, and act on them before they repeat. We partner closely with IAS/TVM (technical vendor strategy), execution teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that vendor management is both technically sound and strategically managed.
