Overview

Dynamics 365 and Power Platform depend on a core data platform that manages business data, transactions, security, extensibility, and application lifecycle at enterprise scale. As customers modernize their applications and adopt AI, the platform must keep data governed, available, and economically sustainable while supporting the controls expected of enterprise business systems.

We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead product strategy for the core data platform behind Microsoft business applications. You will set strategy and investment priorities across Dataverse and Finance and Operations data-platform capabilities, including data governance and lifecycle management, storage economics, integration, reliability, scale, and the partner ecosystem. You will also guide how supported interfaces and emerging agent integrations build on that foundation. The portfolio spans important Finance & Operations (F&O) scenarios and shared platform capabilities used across Dynamics 365 and Power Platform.

This Redmond-based role offers broad product ownership at an important point in the evolution of enterprise applications: shaping the data foundation used by business applications, analytics, and AI. You will work closely with engineering teams, Dynamics 365 and Power Platform product teams, Microsoft AI product groups, customers, and ecosystem partners, with regular exposure to senior leaders as you drive decisions that are visible in customer experience and business results. The role is well suited to a product leader who enjoys making difficult platform choices, building alignment across organizational boundaries, and measuring success through customer outcomes.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Business Applications core data platform, with clear priorities and measurable customer and business outcomes.

  • Set modernization priorities for data-platform reliability, scalability, extensibility, and supported access patterns, including clear platform contracts and investment choices.

  • Use customer research, partner input, and product data to identify the highest-value business data scenarios, then drive reusable platform capabilities rather than one-off solutions.

  • Set product requirements for availability, performance, observability, compatibility, administrator control, and task completion across enterprise application and AI scenarios.

  • Define how Dataverse, Finance and Operations, and shared data-platform services should work together, including where storage, integration, extensibility, application semantics, and AI capabilities should converge and where product boundaries should remain explicit.

  • Set the product strategy and external positioning for data governance and lifecycle management across the core platform, including policy-based retention, archiving, safe deletion, recoverability, and administrator tools that help customers manage data responsibly at scale.

  • Shape storage economics and capacity-management strategy across the platform, including entitlement clarity, usage insights, and predictable customer paths for addressing sustained overages; balance customer outcomes, platform cost, and sustainable growth.

  • Partner with security, trust, and governance leaders to incorporate identity, authorization, policy, audit, and compliance requirements into core data-platform capabilities and supported AI scenarios.

  • Partner with product economics and business-planning leaders to develop commercial models, pricing and packaging inputs, and evidence-based investment cases for core platform capabilities.

  • Lead ecosystem strategy across Dynamics 365 and Power Platform product teams, Microsoft AI products, independent software vendors, and systems integrators; translate commitments into reusable data-platform capabilities and a prioritized engineering roadmap.

  • Partner with domain product leads to connect core platform strategy with application-specific administration, migration, lifecycle, compliance readiness, and customer outcomes.

  • Define and review the scorecard for platform adoption, reliability, storage efficiency, ecosystem usage, AI scenario success, and paid growth; use the evidence to guide investment and deprecation decisions.

  • Represent the core data-platform vision and roadmap with enterprise customers, partners, the field, and senior Microsoft leadership, and communicate tradeoffs clearly across technical and business audiences.
