Overview

In the Microsoft Frontier Company, you won’t just build software; you’ll deliver real outcomes for some of the world’s most complex organizations.

We are a global team of world-class engineers who have been working in a Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) model for more than a decade, embedding directly within customer teams to solve their toughest challenges, side-by-side, and shipping production-ready solutions in days, not months.

As a Senior Product Designer, FDE, you will blend strong human-centered design, research, and product design expertise with fluency in data and AI-driven solutions, shaping digital experiences where data science is central and delivering meaningful, human-first outcomes. You’ll work in small, multidisciplinary crews alongside data scientists, engineers, and program managers, owning the full lifecycle from research through to deployed experiences.

Our work is powered by AI, applying the mindset and tooling across the entire development lifecycle to move from idea to production in days while maintaining the highest standards of security, quality, and trust.

This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Shape human-first digital experiences grounded in research and data insights

  • Translate complex, ambiguous problems into designs that influence business strategy and customer outcomes

  • Collaborate with leading global organizations across industries

  • Apply the latest advancements in AI and design to solve problems at scale

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Product Design: Conceptualize end-to-end solutions and drive detailed experience design using structured design techniques; conduct qualitative and quantitative research to uncover customer needs and pain points; and deliver visually rich, insight-driven artifacts that clarify findings and inform decision-making. You will create wireframes, journey maps, and other elements to support interaction design. You’ll also begin to lead product UX improvements by creating interaction models while acting as a liaison between users and products.

  • Design Collaboration: Represent Design and Design Research within multidisciplinary, technically oriented teams, collaborating on solution development through evidence-based research and leveraging insights to shape holistic concepts.

  • Experience partnering directly with customers or internal stakeholders to deliver solutions end-to-end.
  • 4+ years experience shipping products, services, or games and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process
