Build the new-age of e-commerce that lets a customer buy anything from the internet using the Amazon app.

- Seamless purchase orchestration: the services that turn "Place Order" into a completed, correct transaction across external merchants.
- Safe rollout tooling: monitoring, impact analysis, and guardrails so we ship fast without waking anyone at 3am.
- Integrations with payment rails and merchant onboarding pipelines that expand what's buyable.
- Whatever the next phase needs: this space is being invented, and your ideas shape it.

We're looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer with expertise in back-end system and online service to architect, design, and develop shopping experiences.
In this role, you will build expertise in online service architecture, API development, and distributed systems that power Buy For Me.

- Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
- Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
- Deliver customer value in an iterative fashion while working towards longer term systems goals.
- Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.
- Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

About the team
The OAS (Off-Amazon Selection) Ordering team owns purchase orchestration for agentic and deterministic paths, offer qualification for e-commerce deterministic protocols (ACP, UCP), and order fulfillment workflows. We are also building the Cart system for the OAS (Off Amazon Selection) program.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
