Description

APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Investigate state-of-the-art mechanical designs and technologies, innovating ways to further improve Apple display performance, and enabling strong and compact system designs; Define the module mechanical architecture based on optical, electrical, mechanical, and other cross-functional requirements; Work with the system team to define the interface to the product including fit, assembly features, and tolerance analyses; Deliver any needed specifications including 3D/2D Achieving system goals through mechanical design optimization, prototyping, new material qualification, and manufacturing processes; Audit factories to review the manufacturing and assembly at each step to ensure high yield and high quality; Define & implement validation plans for ME characteristics of the display modules using scientific & analytical approaches; Drive thorough failure analyses for any issues to reach robust corrective actions; Ensure the specifications are met throughout the supply chain; Communicate validation results to peers and leadership; Act as a focal point among multiple world-class cross-functional teams and suppliers to identify open issues, drive them to closure, and deliver mechanically robust displays; and Support the product throughout the architecture, engineering development, mass-production ramp-up, and launch. 15% International travel required. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $186,472 - $225,300/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:

Utilizing 3D CAD to design subcomponent and assemblies used from development through mass production
Utilizing design for manufacturing (DFM) knowledge specific to manufacturing processes to negotiate design changes with suppliers
Utilizing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to make 2D drawings of 3D parts
Supporting battery module, display module, or other consumer module NPI build with process capability analysis and design of experiments (DOE) as necessary to troubleshoot issues
Tracking design changes and updates using the bill of materials (BOM) shared with suppliers
Summarize failure analysis, assembly data, and DOE results to draw key conclusions for leadership and cross functional review
Use solid mechanics, mechanics of statics/dynamics, and statistical analysis to implement and validate NPI mechanical design changes
Working with module assembly suppliers or system assembly suppliers for module/system reliability failure analysis in NPI
Supporting battery module, display module, or other consumer module NPI build with process capability analysis and design of experiments (DOE) as necessary to troubleshoot issues
Working with battery module parts, display module parts, or other consumer module suppliers for module/system reliability failure analysis in NPI
