Overview

The Cloud Infrastructure Operations finance team is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to serve as a strategic finance partner supporting Microsoft’s Americas data center construction portfolio. The role is responsible for capital forecasting, budget management, investment governance, cost benchmarking, executive reporting, and business partnership across the Americas build organization. This individual will drive financial rigor throughout the project lifecycle, from investment approval through project delivery, while developing scalable forecasting processes and analytical capabilities that improve accountability, transparency, and decision-making across a multi-billion-dollar capital investment portfolio

Responsibilities

The role requires a high degree of agility and skill in navigating multiple senior stakeholder requirements while enabling the accelerated growth aspirations for the business in a highly competitive market environment. To be successful, the individual needs to be highly

collaborative, self-motivated and be curious in learning.

  • Lead end-to-end forecasting, budgeting, outlook, and long-range planning activities for Data Center Build capital investments.
  • Maintain and enhance project-level forecasting models incorporating cost curves, construction schedules, and capacity delivery timelines.
  • Partner with delivery teams to ensure forecast accuracy and accountability for cost and timing assumptions.
  • Develop and maintain benchmarks and project cost analytics. Build cost bridges explaining any variance to benchmark assumptions.
  • Provide analytical insights to improve investment decisions and drive cost transparency across the build portfolio.
  • Influence project decisions through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and investment recommendations.
  • Facilitate monthly business reviews focused on forecast performance, execution risks, cost escalation, and mitigation actions.
  • Support financial oversight of long-term supplier agreements, construction contracts, and major capital commitments.
  • Partner with sourcing, procurement, and construction teams on commercial decision support.


Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
  • 1+ year(s) work experience in matrix-based organization.
  • 1+ year(s) work experience in the technology or software industry.
  • Ability to collaborate and be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, influencing across multiple complex organization, and creating effecting partnerships.
  • Ability to achieve results through both individual and cross team efforts, to manage multiple projects at the same time, and to work effectively under deadline constraints.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling and analysis. Problem-solving attitude.
  • Experience in influencing decisions and developing strategic plans. Ability to "think outside the box" and not be hindered by how things have been done in the past. 
  • Go Getter. Willing to go the extra mile with a strong work ethic. Self-directed, resourceful and willing to roll-up sleeves as needed.
  • Proven ability to drive projects and analysis to closure in a collaborative and matrixed environment
  • Expertise in financial planning and analysis, including: analysis, forecasting, planning, reporting, and developing financial models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications translating financial analysis and insights into meaningful and actionable business communications and recommendations
  • Excellent Excel and Office skills


Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.
