Amazon customers expect every product they purchase to be authentic and to meet the highest quality standards. The Product Quality team harnesses AI and technology to prevent quality complaints before they happen, ensuring customers receive products that are as described, in the condition and functionality they expect.

As a Principal Product Manager, Technical for Product Quality Excellence, you will define and own the multi-year north star vision for how Amazon prevents product quality complaints at worldwide scale. This is a highly ambiguous, high impact charter spanning the full quality lifecycle, from detecting quality risks through applying the right interventions and remediating with selling partners. Where the strategy is not yet defined, you will bring clarity, frame the problem space, and build the mechanisms that enable organizational action. You will own the technical architecture strategy for these AI powered systems, making build versus leverage decisions alongside Principal Engineers, and you will drive alignment across the multiple partner organizations whose signals and systems this mission depends on. Working backwards from customer trust, you will shape products that lower the cost of quality and enable trustworthy selling partners to grow, influencing the direction of critical initiatives across the organization.

Key job responsibilities
- Own the 3 to 5 year product vision and roadmap for product quality excellence, and where opportunity and strategy are undefined, drive clarity and create the frameworks and tenets that enable organizational action.

- Develop recognized expertise in the drivers of product quality complaints through direct engagement with senior decision makers, and own the framework classifying quality risk signals so the right intervention reaches the right product at the right time with accurate fault attribution.

- Own the technical architecture strategy for these AI powered detection, intervention, and remediation systems, making build versus leverage decisions with Principal Engineers and shaping how products are architected as AI capabilities become competitive necessities.

- Drive alignment across multiple partner organizations at the senior leadership level, onboarding external teams onto Product Quality capabilities and integrating their signals and systems into the quality lifecycle in both directions.

- Author strategic narratives, including PR/FAQs, vision documents, and investment proposals, and own the executive review mechanisms such as MBRs and QBRs that measure progress against customer trust, cost, and selling partner outcomes.

- Define success criteria that distinguish output, outcome, and guardrail metrics, and own the mechanisms that communicate variance in KPIs and progress against the roadmap.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience technical product management

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
- Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement
