About the role
Original posting provided by amazon
Our portfolio spans the full lifecycle of building on AWS. The Agent Toolkit and our evaluation and benchmarking systems make agents effective on AWS; the Code* services accelerate the path from code to production; CloudFormation and CDK make infrastructure change fast and safe.
We are looking for a Director of Product Management to own the vision, strategy, and execution across this portfolio. You will lead a large team of technical product managers spanning agent enablement, the software development lifecycle, infrastructure as code, and cloud operations. The market for agent-native development is being created right now, and this role decides where AWS places its bets.
The ideal candidate is a technically credible product leader: someone who can go deep with engineers and scientists on agents, infrastructure, and software delivery; make high-judgment bets in a market that is being redefined in real time; and earn the trust of the world's largest enterprises as they adopt agents at scale. If you are energized by shaping how the next generation of software gets built, this is your role.
Key job responsibilities
Define and Own the Developer Tools Product Vision
- Develop and maintain a multi-year product strategy across the portfolio, unifying agent enablement, software delivery, infrastructure as code, and operations into one coherent whole.
- Own the organization's P0 outcomes — agent task success rate, AWS recommendation rate, token efficiency, and code-to-production velocity — and hold teams accountable to them.
- Serve as the voice of AWS developer tools to AWS leadership, enterprise customers, model providers, and the developer community.
Make AWS the Cloud Where Agents Work Best
- Own the strategy for how agents and builders discover, adopt, and default to AWS tooling — winning agent recommendations against competing clouds.
- Drive model provider engagement — benchmarks, training datasets, and simulation environments — so leading models perform best on AWS.
- Define the guardrails that make agent-driven infrastructure trustworthy: pre-execution validation, auditability, and human-in-the-loop controls for regulated enterprises.
Accelerate the Path from Code to Production
- Own the product strategy for software delivery at agent scale, compressing the steps from an idea to a running application on AWS.
- Make the hard portfolio bets: opinionated abstractions versus composability, new products versus capabilities of existing ones, and how IaC evolves as agents change how software is built.
Operate at Scale in Any Environment
- Own the product strategy for agent-driven operations — patching, configuration, compliance, and incident response — across AWS, on-premises, and other clouds.
- Help customers turn their own operational history into knowledge their agents can use to detect, diagnose, and remediate problems faster.
Build and Lead the Team
- Hire, grow, and develop senior and principal Product Managers across multiple product lines.
- Align adjacent AWS organizations — Kiro, Bedrock, the SDK, and service teams — on shared strategy and seamless customer experiences.
