Original job description

Content provided by the employer

Have you ever wondered how Amazon manages its own presence in the cloud? Amazon is one of AWS's largest customers, and here in the Amazon Cloud Management Foundations (ACMF) organization, we architect and build the services that govern how Amazonians access, organize, and operate their AWS accounts. We work with customers and peers from the entire range of Amazon's businesses to drive initiatives in AWS.

Our team owns the governance layer for Amazon's cloud infrastructure. We define how thousands of AWS accounts are classified, how access policies are enforced, and how teams across Amazon operate within a consistent, secure framework. Our services underpin every Amazon business, from e-Commerce to Prime, Alexa, and Prime Video.

We are building the next generation of enterprise account governance for Amazon. This means rethinking how accounts are described, how policies are applied, and how guardrails scale with Amazon's growth. If you want to shape the future of how one of the world's largest cloud environments is governed, you've found the right place.

As a Technical Program Manager at ACMF, you will own the program strategy for enterprise account governance across Amazon. You'll define the vision for how governance policies, account classification, and access controls evolve to meet the needs of Amazon's builders. You will lead cross-organizational programs from concept to launch, working with engineering, product, and security teams to deliver capabilities that thousands of teams depend on. You will build alignment across senior leaders, translate ambiguity into structure, and drive programs that operate at Amazon's full scale.

Key job responsibilities
Define and drive the program strategy for enterprise account governance across Amazon, translating ambiguity into clear roadmaps that teams can execute against.

Own cross-organizational programs end-to-end, from requirements through delivery, working with engineering, product, and security teams to ship governance capabilities that thousands of builders depend on.

Build alignment across senior leaders and stakeholders on how account classification, access policies, and guardrails should evolve as Amazon scales.

Identify gaps in how accounts are described, organized, and governed today. Propose and drive programs that close those gaps while keeping operational burden low for service owners and developers.

Establish mechanisms for tracking program health, adoption, and outcomes. Use data to inform prioritization and communicate progress to leadership.

Develop trusted partnerships with technical and non-technical teams across Amazon's businesses, ensuring governance programs reflect the needs of diverse builders operating at different risk profiles.

Evaluate complex technical and business requirements, surface tradeoffs and risks early, and drive decisions that balance governance rigor with builder velocity.

A day in the life
This role is inherently cross-functional and requires a strong ability to think big and influence others as you will work closely with teams across engineering, operations, finance, and security. We are looking for a critical thinker who thrives on solving challenges in partnership with teams across Amazon.
