About the role
Original posting provided by amazon
You will coach product managers to translate complex technical requirements into clear roadmaps, make smart trade-offs grounded in customer data and engineering constraints, and drive cross-functional alignment across design, engineering, construction, and operations stakeholders. You will establish mechanisms that enable your team to define product-market fit, validate solutions through prototyping and InfraOps research, and leverage AI capabilities to accelerate learning cycles and decision-making. This role will communicate the technical decisions and outcomes directly to AWS leadership.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical judgment in physical infrastructure or hardware systems with a proven ability to develop talent, raise the bar on product thinking, and deliver results through others. You thrive in ambiguity, earn trust across organizational boundaries, and hold your team accountable to the highest standards of customer experience and operational excellence.
Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%
Key job responsibilities
• Define the multi-year product strategy for data center infrastructure — Own the long-term vision and roadmap for DC shell & core, interior fit-out, campus-scale designs, water treatment systems, and high-voltage substation products, distilling diverse inputs from operations, construction, and engineering stakeholders to set priorities where problems are not yet fully defined.
• Design and evolve the PMT team structure to match product portfolio scope — Establish and manage a scalable PMT organization aligned to distinct product verticals (shell & core, fit-out, campus infrastructure, utilities); assess skills gaps and restructure as new product lines emerge or mature.
• Develop PMT talent with deep domain expertise — Grow senior PMTs through coaching, strategic project assignments, and exposure to senior leadership; build fluency across mechanical, electrical, civil, and controls disciplines so PMTs can effectively own data center product trade-offs.
• Drive technical product judgment for physical infrastructure — Ensure PMTs maintain a high technical bar when evaluating DC facility architecture decisions — from structural systems and power distribution to cooling plant configurations and water quality — recognizing when designs limit availability, scalability, or operability.
• Establish mechanisms to capture and generalize requirements across DC programs — Build repeatable processes to work backward from deployment, operations, and construction teams; synthesize feedback from campus-scale builds, retrofit projects, and greenfield developments into standardized product requirements.
• Negotiate priorities and influence across construction, operations, and engineering organizations — Influence business strategy across cross-functional partners (design engineering, procurement, GC/trade partners, commissioning, operations); negotiate resource allocation and scope boundaries to deliver the highest-value DC products.
• Establish operational excellence mechanisms for DC product delivery — Create scalable mechanisms to audit product quality, track design-to-construction fidelity, monitor post-occupancy performance, and drive cost efficiencies across the portfolio — from single-building fit-outs to multi-hundred-MW campus developments.
• Communicate DC product strategy to senior leadership — Author and present strategic narratives (PR/FAQs, OP1/OP2, MBR/QBR) that articulate the product roadmap for data center facilities, justify capital investment decisions, and frame long-term technology bets (e.g., liquid cooling, modular construction, generator topology).
• Build an inclusive, high-performing product culture rooted in builder mentality — Foster an environment where PMTs are empowered to innovate on DC products independently; prioritize sustainable workloads during peak delivery cycles; develop succession plans and retain institutional knowledge of critical infrastructure systems.
A day in the life
As a Senior Manager of Data Center System Integration Management team, the daily work centers on orchestrating alignment across multiple partner organizations. Interactions include managing design change that stem from cost/construction schedule optimization and sustainability across the portfolio of data center products. This position works collaboratively with team partners in engineering and launch TPMs to deliver on business needs by developing a standardized approach to Finance budget gates, equipment procurement and supply chain constraints, technology design and construction readiness milestones. The manager will spend time coaching PMTs on cross-discipline technical judgment, and conducting architecture reviews to ensure designs don't compromise availability or scalability.
About the team
The Global System Integration team is comprised of PMTs, Launch TPMs and Engineering staff focused on delivering highly available data center products for our customers. Our team works with teams across the globe to ensure high quality, sustainable and constructable designs, using offsite manufacturing and industrialized constrcution.
