About the role
Original posting provided by amazon
We are looking for a Software Development Manager who will lead the team building the next generation of AI agents that transform how Amazonians use AI. You will be part of the Amazon AI at Work (AIW) team, driving the vision, execution, and delivery of AI-powered solutions that reshape the future of hybrid (AI + human) work for business professionals. This is a fast-moving space that demands a leader who thrives on rapid iteration, adapts quickly to evolving priorities, and takes initiative in defining and tackling ambiguity head-on.
As a Software Development Manager, you are a people leader and technical strategist who owns the engineering roadmap, grows and develops a high-performing team, and partners with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver complex end-to-end AI solutions. Your work focuses on defining the right problems to solve, setting priorities in ambiguous spaces where both the business problem and solution approach need to be shaped, and ensuring your team delivers with quality and speed. You proactively identify gaps and opportunities before they are assigned, innovate within constraints, and drive creative solutions even when resources, timelines, or requirements are tight. The challenges you take on require balancing technical innovation at the product level with operational excellence and team health.
You take ownership of hiring, developing, and retaining top engineering talent while setting the long-term technical direction and product roadmaps. You build consensus through thoughtful discussions with stakeholders, scientists, and engineering peers across multiple teams. You bring strong technical judgment to inform architecture decisions, remove obstacles for your team, and make strategic trade-offs on investment, scope, and approach to achieve transformative business outcomes and user experiences.
